B-17 Outta control Nine-O'clock Low!
The flight sim of the film(s), possibly developed due to a lack of B-17's in CFS3. It's actually also a lack of B-17's in this add-on too, as the plane of fame with the Southern name is the only one. Yep, after all that Justflight have done to increase peoples supplies of Spitfires (more than 30!) or even Lancasters and more in "Dam Busters" add-ons, here the Flying Fortress only comes in summer 1943 colours. After all the highly interesting versions with or without extra turrets, and operated by USAAF and RAF squadrons, this add-on is very thin on the grouund.Talking of the ground, the ONLY scenery included is Bassingbourn with some static B-17's of said variety, though plenty of trees. After the richly full "Tornado" (with 2 airbases AND 2 airbourne tankers) this really is thin on the ground. THe main idea seems to be that in CFS3 you can jump to the gun-turret positions, or aim the bombs. Well the stock B-26 and B-25 do that and what else has a B-17 got apart from a ball-turret that is (slightly) different? Oh yeah, it has 4 engines and not 2, but otherwie this add-on depends on the far more entertaining film from 1943 of the same name. That ilm was a patchwork of the 25 missions cut together to give a more interesting mission (supposedly the 25th and therefore last combat mission). The 25 missions here although authentic, are mostly mmilk-runs to France. Okay, there s diffrent weather conditions to appreciate, bot the intensity of later (th Air Force exploits is missing. In FS2004/2 you can fly across the USA on a war money raising mission, but of course its all unauthentic as its NOT 1940's airports you land at. You can strangely slide across to the co-pilots seat in FS2002 for a chabge of scene. Sadly this is not really a tribute to those who gave up their earthly lives in fighting for liberty, as none of the Memphis Belle crew were killed in action. The Captain, Morgan, went to heaven only last year. It seems there is still room for a B-17 add-on.

B17 Memphis Belle
A brilliant piece of software which is great to fly. Let's hope that there will be a version of the B17 for FSX out soon.
