Snapped
My children were a little perplexed by the durability of the pencils, complaining that the pencils were too bendy. By the end of the day they had snapped them all in half- I think the issue is with my children not necessarily the pencils...

Fake
These are definitely fake. The quality is so poor and the black tip comes off when sharpened. The ones I had previously to this were weighted but these are so light they are difficult to write with. Do not buy!

Nice bright colour, but not so great to write with.
Anti-chew pencils? As a fidgeter and pencil chewer, I was interested to see if they could hold up to this claim.....I tried the chew test and I was amazed at how robust these pencils are! They are definitely anti-chew and dont seem to splinter, very good! The bright colours look really good, and the pencils are comfortable to hold.....but to write with? Unfortunately, I'm not a fan and these would not replace my usual Staedtler 122 HB Noris Pencil with Eraser Tip, Double Stacked - Pack of 10 . The BIC pencil is not as sharp as the Staedtlers and the BIC pencil seems rather dull, it doesn't glide as smoothly over the paper as I would like and there seems to be a bit of resistance, as if the pencil is blunt, even after sharpening. This is very frustrating and not what I want from a pencil - even if it does look good and is chew resistant. The resistance is noticeable when writing, so much so that it becomes a distraction so rather than focussing on what I am writing, I pay more attention to how I am writing....not time efficient at all! Disappointing.

FOR HB STYLISTS AND OTHERS
The difference between these pencils and the many other pencils that I own is that the ‘surround’ is not wood but a hard resin. The claim made is that this construction protects the pencils from either chewing or breakage, and as far chewing goes I can at least vouch for it that a fairly tentative bite at one of the pencils certainly suggested that I would have to bite a lot harder to have any prospect of inflicting bite-marks. As this was no part of my own intention, I feel that at least I have suitable pencils to share with a grandchildSo how hard is the hard resin? Not as hard as I had feared, actually. The test I applied, as you would expect, was the pencil-sharpener test. The pencils turn quite easily in a ‘closed’ pencil-sharpener, certainly far easier than hard wood turns. I tried sharpening another pencil with a penknife, and this was less successful. At first I found it surprisingly easy to break the lead, but as my technique improved I quickly produced an acceptable result, although I think it probably calls for a sharper blade than I have available.Lastly, what are these pencils like to write with? They are 7and ½ inches (9cm) in length including the eraser tip, which is a very standard length. Do you like HB pencils? They don’t leave a specially black impression, so they call for greater firmness in use than softer leads do. This is turn makes for just a little more effort to erase the impression, but that can be done easily enough with a modicum of effort.Perfectly acceptable so far as I can tell, particularly for users who prefer HB pencils.

Adequately bright
These pencils are very striking as the outer 'casing' is bright. This led to some disappointment in our house as the children expected the pencils to reflect the casing - which of course, they don't.Bic claim that the synthetic resin is more hard-wearing and less prone to splintering than regular wood, they certainly feel sturdy but I tend not to suffer from splintered pencil wood. These are attractive, the bright outer and the black inner makes them look funky. The write/pencil well, but they seemed a little light. This may be because I'm used to a darker pencil, but I found I had to press harder than usual to get a dark line.In a nutshell: These pencils do what they are meant to do, but I can't help but feel that budget pencils would work pretty much as well for a fraction of the price.

BIC Evolution Fluo Pencils (Pack of 12)
I just cannot believe the number of pencils we seem to get through in our house and so I am always happy to try out new ones. These are Bic, which I must admit I think of as producing pens, rather than pencils. They are HB pencils, with an eraser on the top (always useful) and are, apparently chew resistant. My children have never chewed pencils, even when very young, but it is certainly helpful to have something safe if your children have this habit. You get twelve in this pack – all bright colours: 3 orange, 3 lime green, 3 bright pink and 3 yellow. These are fairly slim to hold, they write clearly and the erasers work well. I think these are good value, they are bright and colourful and appealed to my children, who loved the fluorescent shades. Overall, a nice design and with lots of appeal to older children (under sevens might need something with a more chunky design to hold).
