If you want to go back through the years following England then this is the book for you. Thrills, spills and everything in between as England look to emulate the hero’s of 1966.

Had to buy this as soon as l saw it. Was not disappointed. The author is a similar age to myself and like me, my first tournament and football interest was based around Italia 90. John is clearly a huge England fan and writes a good book.I would have liked to have heard more about the writer and his life throughout the years following the national side. Book featured a lot on the results and scorers of every game played. Felt Jamie Carragher’s retaken penalty against Portugal should have been mentioned, given the implication of it.That said each chapter is introduced really well and sets the tone for the period ahead. Went over some good and bad memories and moments here, especially when you remember where you were when these games were being played.Happy to recommend this. Chapters are the right length and you’re constantly hooked.

Really great read, lots of football books out there but this is one of the most enjoyable and insightful

The 3rd book I've read from this author, and like the previous two, it doesn’t disappoint.The tournaments are covered in just the right amount of detail to get you reminiscing about the good (probably) old times.Highly recommend.

Taking a trip down memory lane with some of England’s nearly moments brings back the emotions felt at the time as we aim to get back to the pinnacle of world football.It’s coming home!
