It cuts plugs, but not just any plugs... the plugs of the Gods!
I used the product for cutting plugs. I'm not aware of any other use it might have, but I'm always willing to learn new things.

Plug cutter
This plug cutter is very good quality and cuts a perfectly round hole. I have only used it about 8 times so I can't comment on how long is needed between sharpenings.

not good
The 1/2" plug cutter snapped off the very first time I used it. Since it was chucked up in a drill press, and the workpiece was clamped down, I don't think my technique was the fault. I have regarded Fuller cutting tools very highly for a long time, so I was really disappointed with this tool. It was supposed to be an upgrade for some cheap ones I have ( and have used for years), but I had to go back to them.

Short duration of plug cutting ...
If you are cutting a few plugs, 20-30, this is OK., but if you're onto cutting 600+ as I am you're better off buying them off vendor, such as JD. After cutting just a few, say 20 or so it starts to smoke !! maybe my drill is not powerfull enough? but I tried other plug cutters as well. Teak is real hard to do for a quantity of plugs so you're better off buy them as I did, after cutting just a few, unless you're into softwood, then it might be ok. but didn't go there as I'm dealing strictly with teak.
