This is a bit of a different vibe from the author’s Instagram posts (which by the way was how I found out about her. Accidentally. Pleasantly ) in that it takes you into a deeper dive in between the crevices of her poetry. There is a timeline and chronology of events. There is a narrative to how her pieces came to be, and it is wonderful, eye opening, and most of all, relatable.Her wordplay is intricate as it is simple, a great balance of the two artistic moods.This poetry collection forces you to grapple on its symmetry to your own experience, be it in the past or now without drowning you with big words for the sake of aesthetics. And that is how Michaela does it.And that is why you shouldn’t skip this read..

Where do I begin? Michaela really does take you through a storyline. All the way from childhood, to dealing with family pressures, to falling in love, to having him leave, but to end it all with having new perspectives on everything that has happened in her life. I connected with her so much in this. The way she strings words together really captures her emotions and she makes you feel them with her. Everything was so beautiful. You can feel her through the pages. She makes you step back and take a look at your own life to see how you dealt with or saw situations you’ve come across. Her words truly move your soul. I cannot say better things about this book. She is amazing and a beautiful spirit.

I loved this poem book. I related to a lot of it, especially the poems about her father leaving her mother. I felt like I was reading about my life.

I bought this book when my boyfriend of 7 years and I broke up. It was a complicated (but mutual) breakup, but I was really lost with how to go on with life. I stumbled across this book on TikTok and decided to purchase it. I love simple poetry and figured I would like this. This book was more helpful than I thought it would be. The book is broken up into sections and I read each section as I felt them, so when I was sad I read the sad section, and when I was better and more positive, I read the section about moving on after it's all over. The book is simple and beautiful and it made me feel seen and understood. I highly recommend if you're a fan of Rupi Kaur's book and/or simple poetry.

Oh my...I read through this in one sitting, but marked the pages that spoke to me most (which were about half of them). So very well done. Most of the poems are rather short, which is fine by me...and as a writer of poetry myself, I believe it is a true talent to write powerful yet short poems. She does an amazing job. Buy this book NOW.

My problem was with Amazon. I got a used book in “very good” condition and there’s writing and high lighting all through out. I don’t know about everyone else but that to me is not “very good”. I do recommend the book though! Nothing bad or negative against the author!

My copy arrived on Saturday. Today was the day I actually opened it and started reading. I didn't put it down until I had read it all the way through. I think the last time I experienced such a whirlwind of emotion in such a short period of time was when I first watched the Carl and Ellie sequence in Up. Reading this book literally took my breath away. I'm still trying to catch my breath as I write this. I didn't know poetry could do that.Some other details that I just absolutely adored: it makes sense when read cover to cover. The cover feels nice and smooth in the hand. And it has an ISBN number, making it a Real Book (unlike certain other poetry "books" I've been given).

I read the whole poem book in one sitting because I loved the writing style. It’s beautiful written and there’s so much to unpack in just one poem. I got it after a break up and the writer feels like an old friend who knows exactly how I’m feeling and it’s comforting seeing someone else voice my own personal feelings. Definitely worth checking out!
