You must watch this
Wonderful powerful stuff and what a great screenplay. There are so many things missing and changed from the book, but even with such a great book, the story and main theme is not lost and at times so forcefully played. Broderick Crawford is magnificent as Willy Starc. Willy is not like Donald Trump, but the situation and development warrants some thought about our more recent populist events in the USA and maybe elsewhere.Watch the film and read the book or even the other way round. In particular contrast the events showing Willy’s realisation in the early days that he is being duped by the political barons and the great populist polemic that follows this. Wow

A fine B&W film that holds up bit not all the way-politics, corruption and the human condition at work.
An important film in its own time, well acted but a film that may not stand the full test of time, slow, a bit aged yet one that should be a part of one film library. A film about corruption, the human condition, politics, greed and discovering one's own strengths and weaknesses.

The curse of power
I first saw this movie in my teens and it has always been stored in my memory bank. The story of absolute power corrupting absolutely is as true today as it was 60 years ago when the movie was made and indeed since the days of the Garden of Eden. A very good movie that stands the test of time. No wonder we don't trust politicians whatever their hue.

Dirty politics.
Power corrupts in this gem of a movie; topnotch performances by stars who knew their trade.
