I bought this cause my leash that I got from a friend broke. So far this one has been great as it allows me to easily walk my dog who likes to run and look around a bit more than I can keep up. The extension is great and it has a locking mechanism to set and hold the length. Great leash and price is right for what you get.

This retractable dog leash exceeded my expectations. I have a 15 week old Husky, and use this leash to take him on 1.5 mile walks. Even at his current young age, my Husky is strong enough to pull a person off his feet if he/she is not prepared for the sudden Husky "power surge". Yet this leash shows no signs of slipping and hold firmly against the pulling. I find this leash intuitive to use and the 30' length is perfect for allowing the Husky some extra freedom in those areas where there is little chance that he will get entangled in the underbrush. Also, after multiple walks with my Husky, this leash (especially the small diameter) braided nylon cord (which makes up 95% of this 30' leash) shows no signs of wear. The one (possibly) weak point would be the 17"-18" (5/8" wide) nylon(?) strap at the end of the leash. My Husky likes to put this strap into its mouth and chew on it while walking. Since I have seen my Husky chew through a homemade 1/4" diamond braided nylon rope leash, I knew that this part of the leash wasn't going to be long for this world. I needed a way to discourage my Husky from doing this and came up with the following method. Before taking my Husky for a walk, I would rub some liquid dish washing soap into the material of the 17"-18" nylon strap at the end of the leash. The Husky would still grab this 5/8" wide nylon section and start to chew on it. However, it only took about 30 seconds before the Husky decided that this nylon strap tasted terrible and he would drop it, and never return to trying to chew the strap for the rest of the walk. I have also tried rubbing some Dove bar soap into the strap material and this also does the trick, but I think the liquid dish washing soap works the best. I would definitely recommend this leash to a friend as it is a quality product. In fact, I have already ordered a second one for myself because everything (including this leash) eventually will fail. When that happens, I do not want to return to Amazon to reorder and find out that this great leash is discontinued, or out of stock.

I really liked this product. The product looked exactly like the image down to the bright orange which I like. Being 30ft, the leash was a bit heavy and large but was easy to use. The lock mechanism was easy to use and I did not have an issues with retractability. There were a few scratches when dropped but the product appears good quality and can take a good beating. The only reason I returned this item was because I found another with a more obvious lock button which had a raised hilt to make it easier to locate and use to lock or release. Since I usually have my hands full when I take my cat, the other leash is easier on me. Aside from that aspect, I preferred this leash. I would definitely recommend this product.

It broke with in the first few weeks. I did walk him and train him with it every day. But it should last longer than it did. They were very prompt to give me my money back.

I was going for more line for my dog, so this has that, but is big and heavy, and got wound around things more easily than my currant line, . I will keep it for use with a larger or more aggressive dog. It is strong. But a bit too much for my energetic, 40 lb dog.

I’ve used this now for an 80+ lb golden retriever. I probably should get one that goes up to 110 lbs but so far no problem holding him, and he’s an excitable young dog that can pull hard. It’s VERY strong. Only the first 12 inches of the lead is a nylon “leash”. After that, the 30’ lead is a “cable”. (Don’t leave lying around, your dog can chew through the cable section if your dog is an aggressive chewer). It is not whisper silent, there is a soft sound when it’s retracting, but the dog got used to it after just a few minutes. The entire design is awesome and it has made walking on trails or open areas SO MUCH more enjoyable for both human and dog. FUN FUN FUN. I also don't have to follow him onto wet or muddy turf, if that’s where he needs to go potty, I just let the lead out and I can stay put. The locking button works great, a little bit of a learning curve on letting it out and then reeling back in .. I developed a technique similar to reeling in a fish on a line. I’ve had the handle pulled out of my hand twice when I wasn’t paying attention and he started chasing another dog …what happened both times is that he hated the sound of the handle clattering on the ground behind him and he STOPPED running. Immediately. Both times, he only ran a few yards before stopping to turn around and see what all the commotion was on the ground behind him. An unexpected help in stopping him! Wish there were more colors.

I had been using a 30' non-retractable dog leash for my new Boxer. But trying to manage that when taking him on walks was kinda a pain. I was constantly having to manually loop the lead to keep him close, then manually let out a loops until he got as far as I wanted him to go, and then re-loop the slack as I was pulling him in. A bit of a pain to be honest. This 30' retractable leash has been great. I've been using it for 3 or so weeks and so far it's holding up well. The only concern I have, which has not yet presented itself, is if I press the button to draw back in the line, if there's quite a bit of slack in the line out, it so quickly draws it in that when I stop the retraction by releasing the button, there is a loudish grinding noise when the gears are stopping. I'm hoping that over time this won't grind down and break the gears inside the device. If that happens, I'll follow up and update this review. But as it stands, I'm quite happy with this leash.

My puppy is very high energy, and loves running very fast. In the park having a leash that can reach 30ft long is great, because it allows my puppy more freedom to run. I don't use the leash long in the neighborhood. I recommend you practice in the backyard first, to make sure you use the leash properly and safely.

Dog loves to have that freedom but that doesn't help to educate him. Strong line, on the heavy side. Not good is when dog pulls, it ties up a little but don't forget, you have close to 30ft of rope in it. We use it for a standard size dog, CA 50lbs
