this was the rats last chance
Having nearly lost a finger setting the traditional snap close, wooden block, spring kill devices. Thought we should try this. Even though I generally hate rats, that are usually brought in by one of our cats dead as presents. I sort of felt sorry for this one it had become trapped in our garage. Suspect brought in by cat alive. Set it all up, even used peanut butter as recommended, no luck. The device works ok , but our rat has either died of injuries in side brickwork, or got out. no the cat didn't eat it, he wasn't allowed in garage. Will keep it for next time. Certainly a lot easier and safer to set up, quality is a bit rough and some sharp metal, so keep kids away. Otherwise ok.

Not fit for purpose!
The media could not be loaded. There isn’t any ‘quality’ in this at all.Doesn’t set (work). The catch will not engage. And quite frankly I’ve seen better quality metal wrapping a KitKat!!

My rat is too clever for this!
I have a problem with a rat coming in under the fence from next door and hoovering up all the seed dropped from the bird feeder.. He is quite brave, comes out at all hours of the day and is very fast! He is living under a pile of junk up against the fence next door and although I have advised the neighbours they have done nothing to move it. I love all animals (even rats) and hate the thought of putting down poison and causing Roland an agonising death. I tried blocking up the holes under the fence but he just digs another one so I thought I might catch him in this trap and rehome him by the river over the road. But the only thing I have managed to trap is a poor starling! So I moved the trap to the flower bed near the fence where Roland enters so the birds wouldn't go in.The trap works fine, is easy to set and goes off as soon as the trigger point is touched. But despite putting in bird seed, broken up fat balls, cheese and chicken, Roland refuses to enter. I've now removed the trap and have stopped feeding the birds - the poor birds are starving! I didn't see Roland yesterday but I'm sure he's still there.

Humane trap
I've bought three of these rat/mouse trap cages as they work. Caught a mouse in my food cupboard, I put a trail of oats leading into the cage with a pile onto the trap door plate and it caught the little mouse. I put a piece of cardboard on the floor of the cage so it didn't hurt it's little feet. I let it go in the garden and shot like a bat out of hell and didn't come back. Wouldn't be big enough for the large rats though.

Caught the mouse in the attic
Caught a mouse that had suddenly appeared in my attic in under a week. Use peanut butter . Good quality and humane. Released the little critter a long way from my home.

Great Construction and Easy to Use
It came fully assembled out of the box with no instructions and just looking at the design, was easy to figure out and no youtube video needed. light weight and really nice quality of metal. I will however not recommend putting a rock or something on top to hold in place, but cable to a stake or anchor down by non-chewable methods. Even a chipmunk can jump up and down in it and roll away. if they roll it over, they can move the latch and push the door open. But great trap and very humane.

Cheaply made
Would work better if hook link was better made. The slightest touch releases the latch.

Cheaply made and sharp metal cut the squirrel. Don't buy this or the others that look the same.
The first time I used it I caught a squirrel instead of a rat. The spot welds are poor quality and the trigger arm broke when the squirrel freaked out (You can see the broken arm in the first picture). There is sharp metal on the trip paddle and the screening is spot welded on the floor (bottom) of the cage. Because of the way it overlaps on the bottom (second picture) it has sharp edges exposed. That could be fixed by overlapping the screen at the top instead. The squirrrel was bleeding when I let it go.
