A "HIDDEN GEM" of non-fiction! A quick and painless initiation into 'what it is like' to be a cop! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Okay. I admit I am a little partial. I prowled the streets with this guy in Atlanta during the 70s and 80s. What I didn't know was that this fellow can write a GOOD story. Be aware though, this is NOT a novel. It is true accounts of the kind of events that make up an Atlanta Police Officer/Investigator's daily life. Chapters in the book are simple memorable cases, events, and friendships that paint a marvelous picture of what "police work" is all about. Of course, reading about people and places and events which I personally was familiar with lends itself to giving this book a "glowing" rating. However, all that aside, the stories are well-written, informative, witty, and just plain fun! Well done Investigator Cartwright! Add AUTHOR to your list of brilliant accomplishments!!!

Short quips
It is a short story of musings of a once journalist and former cop. Quite disappointed. I don’t recommend it

Well worth the time to read
The book started out a little awkwardly but continued to gain strength as it went along. A good honest portrayal of a big city cops experiences.

Great stories - Like watching an episode of "cops"!
I ordered the Kindle edition of this book after seeing the author on a Facebook page for people who grew up In East Point. Ga. I did not live there during the time period of his career as a policeman with the Atlanta police department, but many of the locations in the book are familiar to me. His stories of the incidents and crimes he covered are fascinating - like watching the TV show "Cops!" He is a very good writer and has a gift for dialogue. For anyone who enjoys police books, this is a must-read!

” Steve Cartwright excellently captures what it was like to be a cop
In “Diary in Blue,” Steve Cartwright excellently captures what it was like to be a cop, and a cop who obviously loved his job with the Atlanta Police Department. A collection of what most likely were his most memorable experiences during his twenty years on the force, this book holds your attention, and, as you read, continues to surprise. He keeps these stories rolling along with his engaging mixture of drama, philosophical observations, and, almost always, humor. A most unique memoir of a police officer.

A former reporter writes about becoming an Atlanta cop
Steve Cartwright, who went from newspaper reporter to rookie Atlanta cop, writes about his police experiences in ‘Diary in Blue.’ His first-person narrative style realistically conveys what it’s like to be ‘on the job’. From tirelessly pursuing a perp who was raping prostitutes to investigating the bombing at the Atlanta Olympics, Steve’s dedication to justice is his driving force. We should all be grateful that men like Steve gave of themselves to keep the public safe. Thank you for your service!
