This little Shelly 1 Mini was exactly what I needed to smart-ify my kitchen light! Installation was a bit tricky with my neutral wire being at the ceiling fixture, but after consulting some wiring diagrams online, I got it working perfectly.The real gem is its compatibility - I successfully flashed Tasmota firmware and integrated it with Home Assistant for full local control.The device is tiny but mighty, handling my kitchen light with no issues. For anyone into home automation who knows their way around basic wiring, this is a fantastic option to convert "dumb" switches into smart ones. Just make sure you're comfortable with electrical work or consult a professional.Bonus points for not requiring any proprietary hub and working with multiple platforms. Perfect for DIY smart home projects!

The media could not be loaded. I almost returned this device because my original plan was for a 12 volt device and the mini doesnt accommodate DC. However I decided to use for something else and it did not disappoint. The Shelly mini fit nicely in a single gang box. The set up for this project is unique. I had 4 square box with a single switch on one side of the door and a single gang switch box on the other that no longer used but it was connected to the inside switch. Knowing that the 4 square box was pretty full, I was able to utilize the empty box to store the Shelly and make up my connections. The programming worked well too, I'm still learning all the nuances but for now it works as it should.

... but I got so much more.Frustrated with the normal light timers limited timing features, I turned to one of these Shelly Mini G3 smart switches. It works great and has the timing feature of an individual offset from dawn that was missing from the non-smart timer switches.The manual is bit overwhelming, and it was missing the specific "wiring plan" I needed. Searching the web I didn't easily find the answer. A deep dive into a manual for one of their other products and I found the answer. The wiring I needed was two momentary switches connected directly to the device. While it describes one, it's not clear on how to add more. It's pretty simple, put them in parallel. But this should have been easier to find.I wasn't interested in cloud support and was a little worried I would be required to use it. Again, a detail that is hard to get clarity from any manuals. It's not required or needed for local access only.Once installed, I used the AP feature (Wi-Fi directly to the device, open a web browser). This allowed me to finish the setup and configure the timers all I wanted. It's nice its exposed Web UI did everything I wanted. I continued and joined it my house Wi-Fi and have it automatically set time from the google time services.Then I could access its exposed web interface with directly connecting to the device, just my Wi-Fi; and had it automatically updated its firmware. It did come with firmware that was a version behind.Not really a requirement, but I checked out their Shelly app on my Android phone. It worked great. There are a lot of bad reviews that were recent, so I was worried. I think the complexity of rooms and how to add devices was throwing these people off, but the model clicked with me, and I thought it was very functional and stabile. So, I then ordered three smart outlets to add to the mix; and I am happy. Makes remote control and management of timers all in one UI rather than each units Web UI.There are many other features I haven't even delved into yet, like actions.If the App quits being supported, I can always go back to the fully functional Web UI on each unit.

Home Assistant found it automatically once the relay was connected to wifi. It wasn't even necessary to manually add the Integration. I've been testing it for a few hours and it works flawlessly. It's also can be controlled by the built in web interface and that interface has lots of options.No worries about shorting wires (despite what other reviewers have said) when wire is trimmed so there is no bare copper visible between the connector and insulation. 8 amps is plenty of capacity for almost any ceiling fixture, but it's not a good idea to control a wall outlet with this relay.

I bought this based on a segment from This Old House. I have had issues installing a smart dimmer switch because they are so voluminous, that I was cramming it into the box. This is a great idea but still had issues cramming this small device behind a switch. The wiring instructions are made for a professional and I found some helpful diagrams on Reddit. My application was a simple outdoor light switch. I had to create 1 or 2 wire jumpers which meant that I needed to buy some heavy gauge electrical wire. It was scary popping the circut bereaker back on but it works perfectly. There is an app or you can incorporate with Google and other home automation platforms. I have mine set up for dusk and dawn on and off which continuously adjusts. After turning this light off and on manually for 20 years, I'm so happy that one stupid task is automated.

Works well with the shelly app and with the home assistant program. highly recommend. Its a little challenging with full electrical boxes but if you organize the box its not an issues
