I love this book! Greatest concept I've seen in a while.
There's so many things I love about this book that I'm not sure of where to even start. For one, the whole concept of this world and was enough to keep the pages turning and I can't wait to jump back into it whenever "Vertigo" gets released. At some point I have to reread it because I love all the characters and how they interact with each other, like a big weird happy family that just wants to save their home. It's been a while since I've been so interested in the mechanics of a story too. I've always loved the classic of fighting an evil king/ruler and help the rightful king take his throne back but this story takes it to a different leve. . Ialso loved the ending!(I won't spoil that much, just read it!) It wasnt just a "happy ending" but very much a realistic one where...Railrunner still had stuff to do after the book ended, and now ill stop because I don't want to spoil anyone. And me being me, it also made me want to design a character for this story just because how the coasters and rides come to life is so awesome to me and I'd love to write a little story of a coaster or ride that just is in this world, not even part of this main cast.To end this review, I want to say that I took a chance with this book. I'm not a huge rollercoaster fan, but I do love ridding them and honestly it would be fun to ride a coaster that could talk to me...but also seeing a rollercoaster kick some fallen butt, etc was enough to inspre me into writing my own story. That's why you gotta take a chance with this one and that's what reading is all about

I really really want to give this book a better rating. I do
I really really want to give this book a better rating. I do. I'm in love with this original idea of hers-anthro, biomech roller-coasters? Go check out her art work and world building on her DeviantArt page-it's extensive! It's impressive. I've been following her work there for a while now, watching this idea of hers blossom and fully enjoyed watching the story grow through her illustrations-it's probably because of what I know about what this story could have been, that I gave it three stars.I was so excited to read this book and delve further into the inner workings of Miss Leek's world that she poured so much work into...I really wanted to like this book, but....the writing is...bland? I feel like I'm being told about what's going on, instead of being shown what's going on through the narrators eyes. Look, I'm an aspiring writer-I know fully how hard it is to show instead of tell, but...When I began the reading-I chalked the first chapter to being a first chapter-trying to get you into it. But not only was Miss Leek's pacing a tad quick, and some information is just dumped on us suddenly, without really easing into it. Chapters two through four share the same problem...too fast of pacing, information dumps, telling instead of showing, two was an especially awkward chapter-because there's a lot of information dump when we're not even enveloped into the world yet. Say it's just a crazy old man-sure but....yeesh-it was just kind of hard to read when I know Miss Leek is capable of such better story telling. She took herself too seriously too fast and the book suffered for it. I wish she'd taken more time to develop what was going on instead of mass dumping us with exposition.Without spoiling too much, we don't even see how our main character differs from other humans to make him stick out, any odd quirks that are results of the early childhood we're told he had. We don't get to know his boss before the exposition dump, or why he's so cranky-other than for being old and 'crazy'.I know Miranda Leek is capable of much better story quality than what's shown in this book. I highly suggest to any reader who takes this book on-Go look her up on DeviantArt, http://railrunnermiranda.deviantart.com/ ; if the book discourages you-go see what the story was supposed to be. I guarantee you'll be interested then-if BioMech rollarcoasters are you're type of tea party in the first place.

good book
its ok the author tends to swith back and forth between first and third person points of view as well as present and past durring the same conversation, which makes for a difficult read, but not a bad book.

Great Book!
Awesome. I loved this story. It's very difficult to find anything with an original plot these days. I can see this as being a movie! I recommend this to anyone that loves fantasy and amusement parks. I cannot wait to buy the next one!

This book is great. Granted I'll start by saying that some of the beginning and ending chapters are very paint by numbers, where in the start of the book I had to push a bit to keep myself reading, and near the ending chapters I was calling out exactly what would happen ahead of time in the final conflict, but then again, what can you do XD haha. the middle meat of this book is amazing, absolutely beautifully rounded characters and perfectly relatable, even if way unique situations, and all I wanted to do from chapters ten to the end was just keep reading. I wanted more of everyone and what they were doing, and I was absolutely hooked and it's tough for me to talk without giving spoilers for specific scenes and segments of the book I loved. I'll just say, that this book is well worth the price, and I'm going to be reading chapters from it again for a long time.
