Anker SOLIX F3800 Portable Power Station, 3840Wh, LiFePO4 Batteries, Ultra-High 6000W AC Output with 120V/240V, Solar Generator for Home Backup, RVs, Emergencies, Power Outages, and Outdoor Camping

I purchased an Anker Solix F3800 in March of 2024 with the intention of using it as I develop my property in Idaho. It has proven to be an invaluable tool, and as I've used it in various scenarios, I've learned a lot about its quirks and undocumented "features". I use the F3800 to power my tools and recharge batteries, to provide light where I'm working, run my well pump and more recently to provide power to my 40ft. Class A diesel pusher motorhome. It's been quite reliable, but it does have a few issues. First, should you purchase one, be sure to hook it up to wifi and update the firmware. Prior to doing that, I was unable to use AC power (from my RV Generator) along with solar to recharge it. I'm currently running firmware 2.1.5, which does allow simultaneous AC and DC charging. Second, the MPPT controllers built in for solar are optimized for Anker's proprietary solar solutions, which are relatively expensive. Pay close attention to how you configure your solar panel wiring to optimize charging. Assuming you can find the right combination of serial/parallel connections, you can charge the F3800 with up to 2400 watts of solar power, but it's not easy to get to that number. Third, the built-in BMS limits charging current when the batteries are colder than 10c/50f. I've discovered that you won't be able to put more than about 710 watts DC or 685 watts AC into the F3800 if the battery temp reads below these figures. (Quick tip - put a heavy AC load on it to get those electrons flowing and warm up the batteries in the morning!) IF the batteries are above 10c, it will charge quickly with solar or AC input. I manage to push about 1500 - 1600 watts into it at peak sunlight with my two strings of panels, and at that rate it only takes a few hours. If you're charging a warm unit with AC power, it will charge completely in under two hours, assuming you have not limited the AC power for charging via the app. Overall I'm very pleased. the phone app (I use IOS) is good, but could be improved by adding input and output power over time. It has graphs, but since those numbers are constantly changing, there's no way to track usage. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. Anker support is responsive, although it took almost a week of emails back and forth to find out that my "charging problem" was because the batteries were cold and current was being limited by the BMS. For those of us who understand solar, batteries, BMS, etc. 50 degrees F is a pretty high threshold under which to limit current. Hopefully Anker will reduce that to a more reasonable level in a future firmware update. With such a high temp. hurdle the usefulness of this device will be less than desired as the cold weather approaches. For those wondering, it *does* allow you to use a plug-in EV charger to charge your EV. I've tried it on my Rivian R1T, although the capacity of the Anker is a drop in the bucket for an EV with a 131kW battery! Highly recommended due to typical Anker quality, flexibility of use and expansion capabilities. It offers a reasonable value proposition when purchased on sale or in bundles.

The idea that I can juice up my electric ride in a snap (for those that need less than 25A) adds a whole new level of security and convenience that I'm all about. Wrapping this up, if you're on the hunt for a portable power solution that's solid and dependable, the Anker F3800 with an expansion battery should be at the top of your list. Whether you're gearing up for emergencies, hitting the great outdoors, or just want a reliable backup at home, this power station is the real deal. Received the Anker F3800 in about 4 days. It was packed well and could withstand some abuse in shipping. The product itself is easy to move around, has hookup flexibility with both a 30 amp 240v and a 50 amp 240v connection and 6- 120v plugs. Connected the 50 amp to my sub panel and it ran all my essentials ( 3 refrigerators, all lights, TV, internet, freezer) and the readout on the battery indicated that it would run those items for 15 hours. Drawbacks of this battery pak: 1) it is a little heavy (135lbs) . Would take two people to lift into truck for transport but it could be done and run a trailer or campsite easily. 2) The other problem is with the solar charging. The battery only allows 11-32v =10 amp or 32-60v = 25amps so you need to purchase separate solar panels to solar charge the battery. I am unable to use my rooftop Enphase Solar to charge the battery. This really needs improvements! 3) no real users manual was provided with the unit. 4) Problem when using 120v charging, the 240v plugs are disconnected and 3 of the 6 120v plugs are disconnected during charging.

7months in - EDIT. Solix required firmware update, unable to do update without WiFi- found a way to update firmware, now we are no longer able to charge solix by generator. Customer service is all AI, have yet to hear back from anyone real. AI customer service email says we need to plug solix into a powered wall socket- unable to do that because we don't have any other source of power.... at a loss. This is NOT the power station you want for off grid living! Waiting to see if Anker will make this right!!! After two months of continuous use, I'm here to say this solix is not worth the money we've put into it. Our solix and two attachment batteries, has 2chest freezers on it full time which will carry us about a day. We are up to two days now with the extra 2 batteries which is maybe 1.5 to two days tops if we don't use anything else (tv, Xbox, internet) This solix does not charge well via generator (do your research!) using the generator, it is approximately 10% an hour. It is a FULLTIME job charging this thing! 4 hours in the am, 4 hours at night. Currently, we have not been able to charge past 85%, which is new. We don't have this problem till recently. While charging w/gas generator, the extension cords get very hot. During the first month, the heavy duty extension cord we used sparked and started to fill our house with smoke. It was around 85 degrees that day (VT summer) and had only been charging for about 2 hours. Very scary. The 400 watt portable solar panel we bought on sale with this, is also not great. It's heavy, and you need to have a system set up to turn it around easily to follow the sun throughout the day. the max watts we've seen come in is about 220. Between the solix, panel, the two battery packs, the electrical panel kit and 500$ worth of cords (YEP 500 in cords alone for this thing if you intend on having a full solar set up) we are out almost 8grand for approximately 2 days worth of power for 2/3 appliances. Please do your research before buying to ensure this is the right setup for your home.

The Anker SOLIX F3800 has proven to be an impressive addition to my power setup. The setup process was straightforward and user-friendly, which was a pleasant surprise given the complexity of some power systems. The unit's ability to connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi made monitoring and controlling the system convenient, especially using the iOS interface, which was a breeze to install and navigate. Visually, the SOLIX F3800 looks fantastic once installed. The design is sleek and modern, blending well with the surrounding environment. The unit's build quality is outstanding, and it was also very well packed, ensuring it arrived in perfect condition. The inclusion of wheels and a telescoping handle, along with locking wheels, makes the 130-pound unit much easier to maneuver despite its weight. I’m currently using the SOLIX F3800 with an AC Transfer switch via the 220 VAC output. While this setup works well, I've encountered a limitation: the 220 VAC output is disabled when the unit is connected to AC input power with the 220 VAC output enabled. This prevents me from leaving the AC Transfer switches in the "Generator" position. However, this issue does not occur if connected to the DC charging inputs, typically used for solar panels. To work around this, I'm considering purchasing DC power supplies for the DC inputs, which would add approximately $500 to the project but should resolve the problem. One area where I feel the product could improve is the manual. While the instruction manual is available in the app and can be downloaded, I would have preferred a professionally produced hard copy. Overall, though, the Anker SOLIX F3800 is a robust, well-designed power solution that has met my needs with only minor caveats.

This is the best system I have ever used…… It is absolutely fool proof…… I run my whole shop off grid with 2of them and 4 extra batteries……the customer service is excellent when you need them….the system just runs day and night day after day and you do not even know that you are off the grid…..

Overall this is a great power station. I refused to buy one until I could get 240v in a single unit so here I am as a proud new owner. It will truly deliver 6000w and provides a high quality sine wave. The fans are quiet and the casters make it easy to move around despite the weight. I gave it a four star rating mainly because of some essential missing features, some of which can be fixed with software. 1) The app provides no setting to take advantage of Time of Use electricity rates. This is so common across the globe that it's hard to believe Anker didn't consider this. I have to currently use a smartplug on a schedule to charge my F3800. This could be easily fixed with a software update and seems like a real missed opportunity. 2) 240v output stops working while A/C 120v charging is connected. At this size and weight, I assumed there was an autotransformer included so that a 120v input could produce a 240v "split-phase" output, but this is not so. And only one bank of 120v outlets are wired as UPS and provide passthrough power while charging from AC. This isn't a huge deal but kind of disappointing. 3) I wish there was a nerd mode in the app to see output voltage and current in addition to power. I'd also like to see energy tracking over time. I bet there is a lot of data under the hood that would be great to provide in an "expert" mode.

In summary, the F3800 is an outstanding product that I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in search of a dependable, high-performing device. It's a wise investment that I'm sure will continue to serve my needs for a long time to come. It easily earns a five-star rating from me!

The Good: I've bought this unit about 2 months ago to provide off-grid power to a 400 square foot shop. I was able to connect several existing solar panels of different sizes into the two solar inputs with great results. I'm able to run lights, a medium size compressor, table saw, and a dust collector with ease. This is probably one of the best value power stations that offer 240V output. DC and 12V ports all work well, and I was able to get 100W output from USB C without issue. I was also able to easily connect some existing Lifepo4 batteries to extend run time (I have both a 12V and 24V battery). The unit is very quiet, the display is easy to read, and the App works fairly well. Its nice being able to see how much power is being consumed for both AC and DC outputs. I sent a few inquiries through support in the app, and got a detailed and timely reply from Anker. I would rate my support experience as very good. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this product to others. The Bad: -XT60 connectors are not included. This is a little frustrating, but not a big issue. Make sure you buy 10AWG cables if you want to get max power. -60V max input makes panel selection a little tricky, but its still possible to get over 2000W of solar input. -I've had a couple instances where wifi disconnected and the unit needed to be reset to reconnect. This only took a few minutes, but it would be frustrating if you're not home. -The App does not track power that has been captured. I'd love to be able to see how much power was generated or used.

Very impressed ! I've been using this unit along with 48v server batteries , and it's been powering my house on bright sunny days, without a glitch. On average, we pull steady 1500W (mini-split, Well Pump, small appliances and lights ) , so the occasional 3-4000W draws and the unit has no issues with the demand. It's quite heavy but for our application being stationary , it works well ! I'm not sure if I'd be carrying this thing around camping though. Overall, Very good and amazing unit. Recommended
