Very well thought out book highlighting folklore stores of the tales of flowers, from the eyes of different cultures.Organized by season, this lovely book shares folklores from around the world, describing the stories behind the flowers. Each story starts with a lovely graphic pictures of the flower and the story is told in two pages. Ending each story is an idea, using the flowers in the story, to do something that relates to either the moral or lesson in the story, for you the reader relating to a feature of the flower or bringing you closer to nature.Read the book by either choosing different flowers, in the order it is written or by season, this well thought out book is well organized for whichever order you choose to read it.The artwork design and the colors of the paper chosen are very complimentary to each other. It is beautifully laid out and organized. This makes for an experience that is not just about reading a story but the book as a whole. Its a lovely book, very gift-able. Any flower-lover, gardener or someone interested in folklore might enjoy this book.. This would also be a great companion to a flower design class as they learns about the flowers. This is interesting information behind the flowers and their history. All common flowers were chosen, which is nice as many people will be familiar with the different varieties.I really like the book. I have been reading a flower a night and look forward every evening to the tale.⭐️ 1 star - I don't recommend it at all.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, poorly written or bad information.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - Good Book. It's a beautiful book that's whimsical and lovely. It would make a great gift for any plant lover.

So I wanted to like this book, if you are into Greek Mythology and flowers then this book is for you! Most of the flowers were associated with Greek Mythology, there are some other associations for a few flowers. The artwork really is beautiful though! I liked some of the ritual/connections but some of them were just "meh". It might make a great gift for that someone in your life who loves flowers and just has time for a quick read here and there about each one. Or a good book for a waiting room. Not a sit down and read through for me though.

This book is a collection of fables, folklore, myths, and similar that are connected to specific plants and flowers. Each one is a self contained passage, making it great to read a small portion at a time, or when a specific flower catches your fancy and you'd like to learn more about its importance in stories of old. As a bonus there are also "rituals" given for each flower, with a specific purpose in mind. Floral Folklore is beautiful by Alison Davies. I love the cover. The book starts off with an introduction by Anna Potter, who is also an author and a businesswoman. I was not familiar with her but she wrote a lovely introduction.The book is then divided into the four seasons with flowers in each section. Each flower is covered in 3 or 4 pages on average, which includes a pretty illustration. There is the flower meaning, the origin of the folklore that is featured, the folklore of the flower and concludes with a ritual. I think these rituals are mainly designed with mindfulness and relaxation in mind. They may not be your cup of tea but they could also be altered a bit to suit your own personality. I like the idea as I learned to relax and meditate more each day to help my nervous system relax. From my perspective, this is the goal of the activities. I found the folk lore interesting but I didn't know much floral folklore before this book.I received a copy of this book from the publisher through the Amazon Vine Program. The illustrations in this book are absolutely gorgeous!! Loved paging through and reading about the different flowers. Would highly recommend this as a gift for lovers of gardening or flowers.

I love flowers and this book was fascinating to say the least. The book is folklore and flowers mixed together so each flower is a story that takes you on an enchanting journey. The book is beautifully illustrated and each story is unique in of its own.

This is an incredible book that emphasizes our connection to nature through the folklore and mythology of various cultures. I've always been a fan of folklore, and even just as a collection of stories this book is great. However, its philosophy is where it really shines, encouraging the reader to reflect on their experience with these plants, and with nature more broadly. I especially like that after each tale there is a suggested "ritual." These are meditations on the story you just read and the flower it was about, involving breathing, visualization, appreciation, and so on.This is an easy book to lose yourself in, or just to nip in and out of. Either way, you'll grow a little as a person for doing so.
