I needed a nice, Japanese style teapot to enjoy a growing collection of green tea and barley tea that we've gotten into of late. It's an appealing alternative to coffee, more subtle and nutritious. The right way to drink Asian tea is with an Asian tea set, and this one serves the purpose.It comes with 4 nice cups and a cage made of what they claim is stainless steel, for loose tea. So far, the cage has shown no sign of rusting so I believe it really is stainless; you do have to be skeptical, though, because lots of such products from the Far East are actually a cheaper metal with chrome coating designed to resemble stainless.The one weak point in the design is the handle, a bamboo tube with (I believe) metallic core, and wrapped in bamboo fiber. The wrapping is coming loose already, and although the core seems solid, it doesn't inspire confidence when I pick it up, heavy with scalding hot tea. I'm already looking around for a replacement handle. These pots are designed to easily replace the handle, which simply hooks into two holes, and it's no big deal, but it would have been nice to have a better made handle in the first place.It also would have been nice to have a cork or silicone base to serve as a bit of an insulator for the teapot to sit on but that's just a tiny detail.China of course has been in the tea business for many centuries, and this is one product that is genuinely Chinese, not merely a knock-off of a Western one. I had originally tried to find a Japan-made teapot but it's almost impossible to buy one outside of Japan for some reason, at least for an affordable price. This teapot is pleasant to use and I can recommend it.

My granddaughter married a sweet guy of Japanese decent. She didn't have a proper tea service. I gave her this one and she was so excited.
