The Complete Studio Masters

This is not 'Darkside' by Psychic
This is a decent set of recordings from the guys of Spaceman 3. It's in the Stone Roses style and is well worth the outlay. Not to be confused with 'Darkside' by Psychic, which can be found by looking for Nicolas Jaar and is a much more Electronica in style but really, really excellent!

Great psychedelic rock from ex-Spacemen 3 members Bassman and Rosco
This box-set is a must-have for anyone into Pete Bassman's post-Spacemen 3 psychedelic indie outfit. Not only do you get the band's two studio albums, All That Noise and Melomania, you also get three discs of alternative versions, remixes, rarities and demos. The records sound amazing too - really full and rich; far meatier than the versions available for streaming online. Musically The Darkside progress from a jangly sixties psychedelia on their first album to full on Hawkwind space-fuzz on the rarities disc that details the end of their career - and all of it's fascinating, beguiling music that invites (to me at least) endless repeat listens. A lovely release - do yourself a favour and pick it up today.

Always Pleasure
Complete casket of Darkside discography containing the reprint of their records for the first time in over twenty-five years. The box is nice even if a little thin in the booklet that still contains illustrations of the period. The group of former Spacemen 3, bassist Pete "Bassman" Bain and drummer Stewart Roswell, leave minimalist psychedelia and travel to personal space paths. The music of the Darkside is unique and magical, combining elements of 60 'psych with the influences of the English indie scene of the early nineties, especially shoegaze, dreampop and madchester sound. Do not miss the chance to make this box set yours, you will not regret the choice. 5 stars.
