Halloween Horror Nights Unofficial: The Story & Guide 2017

This is my third year buying the HHNU guide, and this one is fantastic like the others. This year's offering is the longest yet, and there are tons of fantastic stories, facts, and pieces of information in this book. If you have been going to HHN for many years like I have, or are thinking about going for the first time, this book is a must!

This is a great look into the history of the event! The summer months can be tough waiting for HHN, but this book will keep your appetite for horror satisfied. The details are really interesting, from how the event started to how the development of scarezones came about.

Perfect for any theme park nerd. details not just hhn but a lot of the universal Orlando history as well.

This book is great, If you are fan like I am, a must have.

Ripley is a fantastic historian and it's obvious that he has really done his research and is passionate about the subject. That said: dear lord please hire an editor! This would easily be a 5 star book if it weren't so poorly written.

I've yet to get to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando although I follow a number of vloggers who go each year and document the event. I'm fascinated by it and fully intend to get there eventually. Especially after reading Chris Ripley's book. What I love about it is the history he includes without getting bogged down in too much minutiae (a pitfall of many a theme park fan/writer.) He gives the right balance of facts and fun. This "guide" reads with the pacing of a fun novel. I'm such a fan of Chris as a writer now and already have another of his books, Origins, about the Universal Monsters to sink my teeth into.
