As mentioned by a previous reviewer, this is a great project for a child. Coloring the pieces, with their variety of interesting designs and textures, is sure to inspire creativity, and the process of folding the cut-out shapes to create 3-D items provides a simple geometry exercise. Voila--art and math in one clever project!That being said, I purchased the book for myself; I suppose you could say it's for my second childhood :-) As a youngster, I spent many happy hours designing furniture like this for my paper dolls. Perhaps that's why I'm inspired now to create a multimedia dollhouse. This book will provide a useful guide for creating some of my own templates. According to the author's notes all of the cut and color pieces have been designed to a scale of 1 inch to 1 foot, useful information for those planning a dollhouse.My first impression was that the pages should be of thicker paper to make the crafted furniture more stable. However, heavier paper would almost certainly make it more difficult for young hands to cut and fold the pieces. I highly recommend this book.
