Q: Are these a wide fitting boot? I struggle to get a decent boot at a good price that is wide enough

I would think they are a medium fitting. Certainly not narrow because they suit me and my husband and fit with thick socks.

Q: Anyone wear the boots without wearing socks? Mine feel a snug fit

No. But I wouldn't advise it. Depending on how far you walk you could get blisters plus sweaty feet would mean smelly boots which would be difficult to clean.

Q: I am a size 9 shoe - assuming i need a thick sock in these should i be getting a 9 or 10?

these tend to be true to size with thick socks, I would always stick to the size that you normally take regards NIck

Q: Are these good for walking on icy pavements?

They can be very slippy. I suppose like anything on ice really though but I would always be careful with these when walking over wet, wooden planks or boards and ice. Other than that, these are the best foot wear I have for walking. I walk for miles in them and would deffo recommend them.
