First and foremost, Nootropics Depot is an exemplary brand that utilizes third party testing and produces only the highest quality supplements. As for the supplement itself, Polygala tenuifolia (sometimes referred to as Yuan Zhi) is one of the most potent ‘nootropic’ supplements I’ve tried. A good amount of scientific evidence supports polygala as an antidepressant, anti-anxiety, and cognition improving plant. Clinical studies show evidence of reuptake inhibition of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Polygala has been shown to help mild depression very quickly, as well as chronic stress. Another mechanism of action seems to be related to NMDA antagonism (similar to newly available ketamine therapy). Polygala also shows evidence of increasing BDNF, or brain-derived neurotrophic factor, increasing cognition, memory, and anti-inflammatory neuroprotection. I recommend trying the supplement, it seems to have helped quite a bit with brain fog and chronic anxiety.
