Pick'n up sticks
Back saving tool. I Split a fare bit of firewood and its just easier for me to pick up rounds off the ground and set them for splitting. Its less bending over and my back appreciates a break where it can get. Yes, you can do similar with your axe blade but the pick is lightweight, versatile, maneuverable a little less effort I think.
