A definite must for any beginner
This is what got me into coin collecting on a whole nother level I had no idea that they were so many different US coins other than the everyday currency I really liked that Not only was there a ton of information about coins of all different denominations but detailed photos of what to look for mint mark locations how many were minted which ones are rare and a general idea of a coins value and how to get a general grade of the coin even though the prices in this are not current I still often go to this book first versus the 2026 version the formatting is so much better and I will say somehow more durable as well I highly recommend this book for beginners or semi-seasoned collectors like myself just make sure you do your research because the coin shops and eBay ruin the value of coins coin shops will scalp you and ebay helps the the price is in this book are a general reference for collectors value but not updated to current prices if the coins are made of precious metal but absolutely great reference for learning

Excellent for older eyes!
OK, I bought my first Red Book back in 1964, so it should be evident I am not young. Over the years, I have added many Red Books to my collection to keep up on newly issued coins as well as the value trends of older ones. People will make comments about the values listed in the book not being accurate and to a degree, they are right. Values are based upon what someone is willing to pay for something, and that can literally change daily. So the values in the book should be looked upon as a guide, not as holy scripture. But everything else about the book IS HOLY SCRIPTURE, including the history of various issues and the production figures telling us the number of each coin made. The Red Book is THE definitive source for this information and is thus a must have for young collectors and old alike. This large print edition is aimed at those older collectors (like me) to make reading easier and more enjoyable, but in reality, probably younger users will enjoy the format as well. The spiral binding allows the book to lay flat, which is also a benefit for users. And the larger photos are pleasing to all eyes. In summation, if you want to learn about the fascinating history of US coinage, look at the numerous types, denominations and variations in US currency, or just look up coins in general, either from Grandpa's collection or your own pocket change, the Red Book is the one book you need. And the larger edition simply super-sizes and enhances your enjoyment.
