One star lost for the patriot section. There are a whole bunch of pages I will never use. Not everyone who buys this book is American. Not everyone who is patriotic is American. There is a whole world outside of the US, a bit of international variety would have been nice.

If you are only going to buy one Lora Irish pattern book, get this one. It has a lot of nice patterns to copy, and some that'll make you cringe, but they are all from other books. There is little that is new. And unlike previous books there are no shaded drawings alongside the linedrawings to guide you. Bought this as a gift and the person it was for lives the carving ideas.

So from looking at the cover you might assume this is a book on carving designs, with pictures of carvings and a template so you can have a go. Not really most of the designs are more like a kids colouring book, unimaginative guff, totally pointless.
