I purchase these yak nuggets with the intention of puffing them up. I counted my one pound bag and it contained 144 pieces. In the picture you will see the puffed yak nuggets in the center and the unpuff yak pieces around them. As far as taste, I personally haven’t tried them, but both my dogs loved them, and one is a little picky. I think it is a great value because of how many treats you end up with.Like they mention in the description, the pieces are too small to give to your pet because of a choking hazard. The size is perfect for my dogs which are 60 and 70 pounds once they are puffed up. It is big enough once puffed up that they need to crunch/chew it several times. To puff up the yak nuggets, soaked them in very hot water via heating the water in the microwave for 2 minutes. I let them soak for at least 30 minutes and have left them for 3 hours. I drain the water out of the bowl (microwave safe) and then place the nuggets in the microwave for 2 mins. I have an extremely hot microwave so u might need to adjust it, depending on the microwave. I have tried doing 4 pieces and 15 pieces and the time is the same to puff them up.

My dog loves yak cheese, but the sticks are too hard for him and take forever to soften from chewing. These nuggets are perfect! My microwave is 700, so it took a minute and a half to fully puff instead of 30 seconds like the directions say. They puffed up to around 4x the size. It took him a few minutes to eat. They also smell delicious when puffed. Will buy again.

I got these as a refill for a ball that you can microwave these in. They're good but small for the ball that I have. I have to use two pieces to fill it. (Regular tennis ball size)

My dog loves these. She has 2 toys we got at petsmart that you put these in and microwave and when cool it’s like a puzzle to try to get the treat out. However, these are so small I have to put like 4-5 of them in the treat before microwaving them to fill the treat up, otherwise they just fall right out when I give them to her. These chunks are only about half inch by half inch and I thought they would be the same size as the ones that came with the toys I have which are about 1 inch by 1 inch. But these are otherwise great.

This Product says it can NOT be returned - after I recevied them?? The Yak Nuggets DO NOT PUFF, So I have to eat $11.95 because the product doesn't work. I have bought Yak nuggets before and have been VERY satisfied, with them from OTHER companys. The measurments of these pieces are INACCURATE, maybe three where that size others small very small! VERY poor product and I can NOT use these. NEEDS TO BE RETURNED or REFUNDED! I will post to all FB and Dog freinds and tell them to NOT BUY this product! VERY VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!!

My dogs love when I microwave these for a couple minutes. The crunchiness is great!

Use them with a chew toy.

I've ordered these nuggets many times before directly from Downtown Pet supply but I have never had a bag with such gigantic chunks! The puff on the left is the usual size that I receive. There were 55 nuggets in the 2 lb bag I received, which means that these are huge! I understand that they are random bits but these aren't just bits. The first nugget I tried burned on the inside before it fully puffed. The puff on the left was from my last bag and took 40 seconds to puff. The puff on the right from the new bag took 3 minutes to puff, and I had to watch it continuously to make certain that it wouldn't char. There's no way for me to cut the hard nuggets into smaller ones before nuking, burned puffs really stink, and once puffed, its almost impossible for me to cut the puff into pieces. My dogs are 5.5 and 6.5 lbs. They can't get the giant puff into their mouths, and if they could, I'd be concerned about the calorie count. They aren't returnable. I'm going back to ordering from Downtown Pet Supply directly.
