This is a decent price for a mortice latch but in my delivery of this unit the latchbolt is not smooth, and catches where I have highlighted in the diagram, this isnt a great design and this really should protrude out like this.It is possible that the latch could remain extended or cause excess wear, it just doesnt feel like its been finished properly.Otherwise the mortice latch works fine, I'm torn whether the matt black works in my situation but thats my choice nothing against the unit.Apart from being disappointed with the occasional snagging the fitment works great and looks nice when in position.The snagging really lets this down I'm afraid

This door mechanism provides everything needed to replace an existing mortise locking system.The housing itself is made of metal and includes a cover for the mortise and plastic insert for the lock side.Fitting is easy, just cutting the correct size opening to slide the lock into position, making sure that the spindle opening lines up.The mechanism itself is smooth and has good spring tension to return handle to normal position.All screws and included along with tear to connect your choice of handles.Overall happy with item

We bought this for our Victorian wooden doors. Some of their mechanisms are not in good condition. This is a good replacement as it is a standard size and works well with our door type. We'd buy these again if needed.

Price at review: £12.99This is a reversable door handle and locking mechanism suitable for a bathroom door. I actually used it on another project but it worked absolutely fine. Do check the dimensions before ordering though as these are crucial in having it work right for you.I have to mention that the product description at the time of writing is incredibly over the top and reads like something written by AI. I think buyers should take its claims with a pinch of salt.It is almost satire but I don't think intended as a joke: "A stylish statement piece" - "an unwavering guardian of your moments of solitude and serenity" - "provides additional time and protection in the event of a fire"Its a metal bathroom lock, there is no need to dress it up in to something beyond what is actually does!

This looks sturdy enough for the job. The actual locking mechanism is of a strong metal build with a metal faceplate to fit on the door frame. The inner slot fitting is a hard plastic for the locking mechanism to fit into with a metal strike plate to take the daily use of opening and closing the door. Screws are supplied to hold the whole mechanism into place, however, the only other thing you will need is the locking handle to engage the brass lock bolt in or out. This would also be need for access in an emergency from the outside. It is well made and good value.
