Q: What's the difference between TYT TH-9000 & TH-9000D?

TYT had lost a court case in China and was forced to discontinue sales and production of the TH-9000 radio.Well, the TH-9000 is back and it's called the TH-9000D. I guess that makes a difference to the Chinese attorneys.Please note there are issues with programming and clone on these new models reported. Also the microphone connecter has a different wiring than the orginal series.

Q: what antenna have you had good success paired with this radio

The antenna suggested in the Amazon Ad is a dual band VHF/UHF antenna and is not the correct antenna for the 220 band. If you buy this radio look elsewhere for a 220 band antenna, and not the one suggested by Amazon.

Q: Is this chirp compatable?

I have only used the manufacturer software. Check chirp website. They have a list posted of compatible radios

Q: Will this fit a a single din radio opening?

If you are referring to a standard stereo slot in the dash of a vehicle, i believe it's possible.I've never tried, nor have i took any measurements, but it certainly looks small enough to fit.
