Asperger Syndrome, the Universe and Everything: Kenneth's Book

Parents MUST READ!
I read this book in one sitting, and enjoyed every moment of it. One thing I am sure of is that, when the time comes comes to have "The Talk" with my son, when he expresses an interest in knowing what makes him (and me) so different from other people, this will be one of the first resources to which I turn. In fact, I may approach the initial process by reading this book aloud together. This boy, Kenneth, does a wonderful job of explaining his emotions and struggles as he works very, very hard at making his life (and everyone else's) better. He works hard, and he frankly shares his experiences, good and bad. He wonders if his mission in life will be to help others like himself, and if it is, he's already made good progress. I am not Christian, but I found his sense of God and the wonders of the world around him to be quite moving, and his sense of justice and ethics to be quite strong for such a young child.I think this is a wonderful book; one which should be read by the teachers, caregivers, siblings, and most importantly, parents of AS kids.

Nice book :) Really easy to read, even for an ELL (English language Learner) ;)Have nice ideas and gives you a broad perspective of many of the common issues a person with autism may encounter in their lives.

Terrible
This book was a tremendous disapointment. Ridiculous. A waste of the short time it takes to read - unless you are an ABA teacher and need to read something to build your ego. Other than that - save your money.

Kenneth - Incrediblly Smart Guy
Actually, I have never seen such a smart boy who could write about his own autism/Asperger's(a/A). In those days He still had difficulties in what society had expected of him such as handwriting, fussy eating habit, poor sleeping, and so on. Brenda Boyd, Kenneth's mother tried harder to raise her a/A kid than most parents raised kids. However, I must admit he has some splendid talents most NT's might miss. - computer skills, maths, reading books, and playing the guitar! And those are valuable ones he should be proud of, where I found he is not a dropout! Since Kenneth could write about himself and his published book turned out to sell well, I bet even NT's must have been surprised at Kenneth's writing skills and so am I!Now Kenneth Hall is around 20, I guess he has gotten over most of his negative a/A traits by ABA(=Applied Behavior Analysis) thanks to Brenda and other carers. Autism/Asperger's themselves will never end for the rest of our lives, though.

A charming read ...
And I found I liked the author very much too - which isn't how I normally feel about young children. ( LOL. etc... )Seriously though, what a great kid. Actually I've never looked to see when the book was written. He may well be a teenager or even older by now. Well, If so he'll be a terrific young man. Not that any of that matters much - with regard to this review, I mean. Anyway, it's a really nice book and I'm so glad more and more Aspie/ASD kids are getting diagnosed early these days ( hell, ANY time pre-puberty would've been good in my day!) and should therefore, hopefully, be better understood, accepted, and catered for within society... Hopefully.

... it will let you see that your child is like so many others out there and a little insight ...
It won't give you a reason for or cures for Autism but it will let you see that your child is like so many others out there and a little insight into their minds. A lovely book to read in an afternoon. Best for HFA or Aspergers.

this is an easy to read
I based my purchase on other people's recommendation. I totally agree with them: this is an easy to read, beautifully detailed account of someone who has Asperger's syndrome. Although we have a daughter and not all the comments apply to her, I would say that 70% of this account rings true to her behaviour. Thank you for allowing me to understand my child a better. I feel I have more of an understanding of how to treat her.

Great read
I really like this book, it was great at gaining an insight into the life of someone with autism. The book arrived very quickly and the package was in excellent condition. I will definitely read this book again
