TACTIKKA + Headlamp, 250 lumens, Ultra-Compact Headlamp

recharging my headlamp even from a portable rechargeable battery has never been easier. I take these ( I have multiple ) out on Military training outings and love them. red lamp ? got it. Bright lamp for when Training is Indexed and packing up to convoy home, got it. No worries at all with these headlamps. Get it.

There’s a reason I’ve only used Petzl headlamps for a long time. They’re reliable, bright, lightweight, durable, and have good battery life. The Tactikka is no different. Well worth the cost, and it’s aesthetics are right up my alley with the color scheme. Will buy again.

Not my first Tactikka, this is one of my favorite headlamps. Whether using as I do or for more mundane tasks, once you discover hands free illumination, you'll likely never be without one. This one is for my son enrolling in his first AHA CPR and Commitee on Combat Casualty Care Stop (coTCCC) Stop the Bleed class, that makes him what I call a 0 Responder. PD/FD/EMS, God love ya' but it is the people there or that soon come upon an Emergency, that have a unique opportunity, in near all of medicine, for near instantaneous interventions that can stop processes and change outcomes, an opportunity frequently lost by the time 1st. Responders arrive. Sometimes this occurs in low light, hence my favorite headlamp for my son.

So it's the usual Petzl quality. Okay 5 stars for that, but it has a quick release clip on the side of the headband my older Petzls never had. The connection isn't snug, so the plastic clicks and rattles at the slightest touch, giving the repeated impression of flimsy. Not only that but if you reach up and touch it, it tends to spring open casusing the light to release off your head. 4 stars. It's only a backup light now. I think the future is Lithium rechargeable via usb.

I had my last Petsl headlamp for roughly 20 years till a corner of it cracked. It lim,ped onward for several years thanks to the miracle of gorilla tape but finally crapped out. I had been hemming and hawing over one of the newfangled LED strip headlamps but finally decided to go with another tried and true PETZL. Good decision so far!

This is the 2017 model that has 250 lumens white light and accepts either three AAA batteries or Petzl's CORE rechargeable battery pack.Reference attached photos for some 2016 Black Diamond Spot and 2017 Petzl TACTIKKA+ comparison.Things I like this TACTIKKA+ over the Black Diamond Spot:1. Weight - this TACTIKKA+ is lighter and does not bounce at all when running or jumping around.2. Switch Mechanism - very simple, intuitive, and quick. The Black Diamond Spot, while feature rich, does have a learning curve. Even being studied and practiced, you might still need a refresher if you haven't used for a while.3. Quick-opening buckle - not very important but it does come in handy sometimes, especially when you already have some elaborated stuff on your head.This TACTIKKA+ is noticeable brighter than the Black Diamond Spot, but both are bright enough for my use: night time road side / trail running and occasional camping.

The latch on the battery compartment has been redesigned compared to the previous generation. Much easier to change batteries vs prying open the small side latch in the previous generation. (I managed to break the latch on one of my old ones.) For my application, water-tightness doesn't matter, so the loss of the gasket is not an issue for me, but will be for some other users. The single, large control button is an improvement over the two tiny buttons before. I don't need the red night-vision feature, but the sliding red window on the old design seemed to me to be a bit of a kludge vs the new red LED. Overall a much better unit for my application, but won't be better for all.

Ca ne m a pas que très peu servi lors de mon voyage en Norvège... rare etaient les zones sombres, et lors d expéditions pour voir les aurores boréales les lampes frontales sont souvent fournies ! Je recommande.

It's Petzl, you get what you pay for. It's a fantastic light. Lasted a full night of work.
