Great drive and great backup software included. Spent a few dollars more for the cool limited edition dragon design.

Pros: It looks very cool! Looks like a red envelop for Lunar New Year!!! Cons: Low capacity Req high power (cannot use hub or it cranks) Overall: WDC are you joking me???? 2TB USD drive, this is year 2024, not 2012!!!! I rather pay $150 for a 2024 Year of Dragon in 5TB than $85 for a 2TB! I replaced my 1TB with this 2TB for home docs lol, think back my NAS I got 4TB on each bay that were purchased in 2017! 2024 with 2TB hard drive........... a joke of the year, but I rated you 5 stars because it just look super cool!

One of the reasons for buying this product was it was supposed to have a built in password protection software. IT DOES NOT! When you first connect it to your computer it asks to be connected to the internet, which is a HUGE security risk to start. ANY data you have already stored on the disk is subject to retrieval and stored on some cloud database. When you try to download the Windows software that is supposed to already be on the drive, you get repeated requests to have your privacy violated. If you do not agree then the software does not download and states "No Internet connection". This was ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE, it was just a means of agreeing to have the data on the hard drive read and who knows who will then read and store it on some cloud server. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SCAM!! Do not buy if you think this will give you protection of any kind in keeping data stored on the drive private. SanDIsk is part of Western Digital and it appears that they pull the same SCAM to have your disk password protected. Buy for data storage only and put your own password protection software on it, or just buy from a company that is more up front about how they implement password protection.

I didn't need a portable hard drive, but this one had the red dragon paint job. I assume this one will work like other portable drives. The package came with the drive and a short USB-C to USB-A cable The paint job looks well done and the dragon shows a lot of detail, but I feel it may rub off over time especially if you throw it in your bag or backpack without a case.
