There's a little water coming out from the pipes after unboxing, is this a brand new one?

Mine does that too and it had some corrosion on the back I got it installed and it says a faulty error code 4 saying inlet temperature probe is faulty or the inlet temperature probe is open or shorted. Please check or change the outlet. Temperature probe connection.

Is it hard to convert a traditional rv water heater to a tankless one?

It is easy but I would not buy this one. I did and it does not heat the water enough to take comfortable shower. Normally you blend hot and cold water but if I were to turn on the cold water it would literally be a COLD SHOWER!

Does this unit still ignite if the power goes out at your campground? Or does it have to have electricity to run?

It runs on the 12v system. So it will run off the battery. But has to have that 12v power to run.
