We’ve never used gaffer’s tape, so have no baseline for comparison. For our project (adhering metal strips with hooks to the paper backside of black foam core), we used very strong double sided tape below, and then this tape above - to cover the rest of the exposed double sided tape, hopefully help adhere, and blend in with the black. That lasted only 1.5 days.Did some research and tried again. This time, we sanded the metal strips on both sides (duh!). Then we used a hot glue gun below and above - with slanted thumb tacks in between, and covered the resulting blobby mess with this tape. So far, it’s holding well… and it looks halfway decent with this tape concealing the mess.We are happy with it, but can understand why some are unhappy. The adhesion isn’t very strong and doesn’t hold under even the smallest amount of pressure. It is sticking to the paper surface well and the matte black texture is exactly what we were hoping it would be. It’s a great price… and may work really well for some projects. Depends how you plan to use it, I guess.

This is great gaffer tape. It’s easy to tear when using, and pulls off cleanly. Worked great in conjunction with my moon gels to cut the ring out of my drums.

It does what they say: Sticks well but comes off without leaving a sticky residue. Strong yet tearable by hand. I stuck this on some speakers to cover the vent holes. It's been on there for a month without peeling. I've peeled it off and stuck it back on and it still sticks. Handy to have around.

Sad to say that this gaff tape just isn't sticky enough. I taped down some wires (indoors) and after a day or two the tape was loose.

I bought this in hopes that I could cover over a crack in a piece of plastic. I applied the tape and let it set overnight. The next day the tape was already hanging off the plastic piece. Do weight on tape, no stress on tape, and no adhesion. A total waste of money. The reason I bought this instead of duct tape was that it was matte black and matched the color of the plastic piece. I tried it two more times. Both times I actually cleaned the plastic with alcohol, and let it dry thoroughly before putting the tape on. The same thing happened each time. I ended up going to a big box store and bought a roll of contact tape that was about the same color. Worked perfectly the first time I tried it. I am very disappointed.
