Perfect Replacement Diverter for Moen Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet #87780SL
My kitchen sprayer quit working and since I had the same faucet in my laundry room, I switched sprayers only to discover it wasn't the sprayer at all. So the next thing I found through research was that the diverter had gone bad. Therefore, I ordered and used this diverter as a replacement part in a Moen Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet #87780SL. To begin with, I turned off both the cold and hot water under the sink with the turn off valves and then turned the faucet on to continue to let the residual water drain. I disconnected the quick connect hose at the very bottom of the kitchen faucet under the sink and disconnected the quick connect hose that was attached to the first quick connect hose. That second quick connect hose led to the handle. (I still had water running from somewhere even with the line open and the both water lines shut off but I continued working quickly.) When I pulled out the first quick connect hose, it revealed a piece that I used an adjustable spanner open-end wrench to remove. Once that piece was unscrewed I could see the diverter inside. I used the bolt upside down that came in my order with the diverter with a pair of needle-nosed pliers and unscrewed the bad diverter. Once out, I put the new diverter in and reversed the process using the upside down bolt to screw it in. Then I attached the first piece that I took off with the adjustable spanner open-end wrench and connected both hoses. I made sure the faucet was off and then turned the water back on using the valves under the sink for both the cold and hot water lines. I then turned on the water using the single-handle and lots of water and water pressure resulted and then I tried the sprayer and it worked too. Problem solved!! Hurray!

Works like new; not an easy fix
Search Moen's website for a parts diagram of your faucet. This part works on a wide range of designs. The old diverter self destructed when I tried to remove it. As other reviews suggest I had to drill through the broken part. After getting medieval with a hammer and screwdriver I finally got it out. If you go through this and the sprayer gets stuck on... This is debris stuck in the sprayer itself. If your sprayer can be disassembled this can be cleared. I highly recommend running the faucet on full with the spout and new diverter removed. This will be messy, but it will force out any debris from the destruction described above. I hope you have a wet vacuum. The faucet and sprayer work like new now; but I can't give five stars. The design is bad. There are many ways this part could be redesigned to be easily removed after it is worn out. Just change the socket head to 3/8" Moen.

Perfect performance
Has functioned perfectly with strong reliable flow diverting water to handheld sprayer with every squeeze. Hand held sprayer on, sink faucet water stopped, no drips. Perfection in performance and design. Plus you get a new bolt (for screwing into place)!! Lol

Works
Only recommendations I have are use a cordless drill on the bolt so you get the leverage and torque needed to get it out. Also check the o ring because mine was part of the valve and replacement was not and if not seated properly you will get air knocks.

Moen SUCKS
Moen produces different parts with the exact same part number. They require that you know the date of manufacture of your faucets to get the correct part. Who does this, no I didn't remember when I installed it. So I got the wrong part. Ended up replacing the faucet with a non-Moen.
