Enjoyed reading about a realistic character with a disability
I enjoyed this book. It's clear that the author did research on glaucoma and blindness, and what it means to become blind. I appreciate the detail that the author wrote with. I myself am visually impaired and have low vision. While not blind, I greatly appreciate reading a YA novel about a character with a disability. I also really appreciate that the author made the character realistic. She wasn't painted as a victim of as someone to pity, she was written as a believable young teenager who was learning to adapt to her sight loss. I think the fear and the unknown is a real part of vision loss, there is grief associated with it. I would definitely recommend the book, especially if someone wants a better understanding of what it's like to live with a disability.

Decent Read.
I found this book from the Disability in Kidlit blog. I liked the portrayal of Natalie and her experience of going blind and learning to move forward. It helped me to understand a little better what it means to be blind, and caused me to examine some of my own thought patterns and attitudes toward disability. This, I think, was the book's strength. The writing was fine, but not particularly great, and the story itself was kind of weak; but you can tell that the author did her research and was careful in telling her story. Overall, it's a pretty good read.

Blindsided was a Great read!
Great read! Inspiring for all ages! I really loved reading it! Never really thought of how it would be to be able to see and just suddenly lose your sight. I enjoyed the truth of the journey that was revealed in the book.

Amazing!!!
I love this book!!!! I finished it in a day because it was so good! This book is about Natalie a 14 year old girl who found out that she would go slowly blind. Could you Imagine how that would feel? Natalie finds out that she has too go to a school for blind. How will this effect her life at her old school where most people think she has regular vision? Will she make new friends? Will her roommate like her? All of these questions and more will be answered in this truly amazing book!!!!!

I will never take my side for granted again
To start off, blindness is my #1 biggest phobia. I was reluctant to read this book due to my fears but I'm glad I did. The main character Natalie was very easy to root for, and for once we get a disabled teen who doesn't sit around and complain the entire book! She faced her problem head on and refused to give up.

Insightful.
This story is about a teenager going blind from glaucoma. Despite the hardships she displays courage and endurance. She is able to adapt to blindness and move on with her hopes and dreams. The book is well written and engages the reader's interest from the first page to the last. I highly recommend this novel.

Awesome characters but...
What would you do if you were told you were going blind? In Natalie's case, she goes into complete denial, even after being enrolled in a Blind School. There she learns many lessons, other than Braille and using a cane, and makes many friends along the way. The story is a really quick, enjoyable read and I quite enjoyed it.Of course, there were a few things that I didn't enjoy so much, which seems to be a common peeve of readers - Cummings becomes quite extreme at times, throwing so many life lessons and perilous situations at me I felt like a moron. A lot of it is basically saying, 'Look! Blind people can go to the mall if they want to!' and other parts were just silly. Despite this, I really enjoyed Natalie's story.Of the characters, I liked Bree a lot. Despite her attitude when we first meet her, you learn about her past later on and she tries her best to make amends. Natalie is similar, at first she shuns everything, refuses to use her cane but after falling down the stairs and knocking herself out (true) she realises that she can't be in denial forever.I found it a little odd that Natalie was the perfect girl-next-door farm girl, whereas the rest of the characters had some pretty serious histories but I think that was part of Cummings way of drilling life lessons into our heads...
