Wow! The clamps actually hold the plates!
One would expect if you put the plate with the post on it into the clamp, the silver screw would clamp the plate snuggly. Well these do! Others I have purchased don't. I'm very happy with these!!!

Functional. No-Frills Adapters. Rough Casting & Finish. Must-Have For Photographers & Videographers.
Purchased the 6-pack (3x shoe and 3x flash adapters) on 03-18-2024 for $8.99.If 'Amazon Basics' had hot/cold shoe mount adapters, these would be they. These are no-frills adapters that get the job done, but they ain't the purdiest. The aluminum castings have a somewhat rough finish with pits and scars. The edges of the shoes are not clean and smooth; they're ragged. There are tool marks (circular saw blade) on the sides of the flash adapters. None affects functionality, however. The powder coat finish isn't the greatest either. When I first saw them out of their bags, I did a double take because they almost looked as if they were painted.Beyond cosmetic issues, the one complaint that I do have is with the size of the wheel nuts on the shoe adapter. I wish it were larger (diameter) to make it easier to grip when a flash/accessory is mounted. The 'standard' nut doesn't have enough clearance past the base of the mounted accessory for a good fingertip grip to ease tightening/loosening.Making it thicker is an alternative. Both bigger and thicker would be best. But, these are no-frills adapters after all, so...These are inexpensive accessories that should be in every photographer's tool kit because you never know when you'll need one.

Adequate for many applications
Once tightened, the cold shoe clamps seem to hold tightly onto the 'foot' at the bottom of the 1/4-20 bolt. The foot seems strongly attached to the bolt, however I did not test until failure. The foot plate is ~18mm square and it's thickness is ~1.75mm. Its a bit thin; when used in a slide-in cold foot it can sometimes escape over the keeper button. Overall, the durability, fit, and finish are sufficient for the purpose; although if items of value are to be mounted using this foot, one should be sacrificed to a vice and hammer to determine if it's strength is adequate. The foot should be checked in any cold shoe to be used for proper firm fit. As with many products, production batches may vary over time.
