Beautiful book for aviation and war plane enthusiasts
The media could not be loaded. Here's a book for those who love aviation art, particularly military planes.Adam Tooby only got into creating aviation art 6 years ago and now has an artbook filled with amazing artworks. That's really impressive.Warbirds is a large coffee table hardcover artbook that features more than 200 artworks of military planes from over the last 100 years of aviation. These planes are from before and after the first and second World War. Actually the most recent jet featured is the Mig-29 with its maiden flight in 1977.The book starts with a lengthy and insightful Q&A interview about his work and inspiration. At the end is a step by step breakdown, including screenshots, of how he models and textures the planes. It's not a tutorial where you can follow along though, but it's interesting to know the creative process.Tooby uses 3D Studio Max with Photoshop and Illustrator to create his artworks. He would visit museums and places where the planes are displayed to take hundreds of photos, then gather whatever blueprints and information available before modelling the planes in 3D. That is a lot of groundwork and his work rate is very inspiring. The artworks are wonderful, either rendered individually or featured in flights during war. Details are amazing, right down to the rivets on the legendary Spitfire, the shine of the metal, the weather worn paint peeling surfaces on the wings of the planes, or the words, logos and decorations on the plane bodies. The artworks are printed huge, sometimes across the whole 3 page gatefold. Each plane featured comes with specifications, a writeup on the history and variations of upgrades. There's a lot to read and should appeal to aviation or World War buff. This is a beautiful and informative book. I hope there will be future volume covering planes that weren't included this time round.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

FIRST CLASS!!!
This book is fantastic!!!If you are interested in 3D art and aviation then this is most definitely the book for you. Can’t believe I’ve missed this one for so long. The art work is first class and there is a very inspirational insight on how the artist constructs his aircraft in 3D Max (I’m a Cinema user myself). I also feel that if like myself you are a fan of 'Art of' cinema and game books then this book will sit comfortably next to the others in your library.I was disappointed with latest Art of Star Wars book but this along with The Art of Destiny are by far the best I have seen in recent years.Nice one Adam Tooby :-)

Warbirds Wonder Art
Beautiful book. As an Airfix era lad I have a deep affection for WWII fighters ,bombers and early combat jet aircraft, and there are certainly plenty of wonderful full colour plates of these here. The digital art is very high quality and incredibly accurate. If you want the slightly rougher pre pixel art of the sixties and seventies I'd recommend the Airfix cover art books of Roy Cross, which I have also got, but really this book has equally as much going for it as those, with the added bonus of detailing much about each aircraft's design origin and combat history. And many of the pictures are absolutely breath taking.

A Stunning Book for the Aviation Art Fan
A simply stunning book for the aviation fan. absolutely packed with some of the best digital renderings of combat aircraft from biplanes to modern jets. Information about Adams art process and about his inspiration is included and best of all much of the content is inspired by real historical engagements involving aircraft. Aviation art purists who prefer a more organic feel to aviation art of the likes of Robert Taylor might not like the clean cut lines of the digital interpretations shown in the book but this is a must buy coffee table book for the aviation fan. The books cover of the F4 Phantom is a great example of the stunning composition and drama conveyed throughout the book. Highly recommended.

Brilliant
One of the best "coffee table" books on the subject. Some say that it is not proper "art" but I beg to differ. Reading how the subjects are digitally mastered is interesting and the finished article has to be seen to be appreciated. Some real intriguing angles for most of the subjects.
