Very pretty but it broke the first time I had it on

I bought a pair of earrings in 14k gold over sterling silver and mother of pearl clovers. This necklace I thought would match my earrings. It does and doesn’t. Gold color is a good match (chain is 18k GP stamped). However the mother of pearl is starch white thus looking like it’s made from resin. Compare to my earrings, the difference is very noticeable.
