Excellent way to upgrade a PC to WiFi 6
To be honest, I was on the verge of returning this to Amazon - it seemed very unstable and kept dropping the connection. Luckily I persisted and discovered that when I re-boot my computer the TX50 can take two or three minutes to negotiate the best connection. (There are some obstructions between this and my router) During this time, the connection can drop a few times. But once the stable connection has been established it is fast, rock solid and never fails. Happy to recommend.

Potential Scam - Sudden unexplained decline in performance
When i first got this device it was working very well. Reaching 900mbps constantly, the limit of my network speed. It worked so well i bought a second device. For 12 months i've had no problems at all. Now however, for the last week both devices seem to have been capped at 300mpbs with frequent 5-10 second drops in performance. If it was one device it was happening, i'm put it down to a fault. As both of them started doing it at exactly the same time I can only put this down to either terrible hardware or intentionally designed to reduce performance after a set period to encourage people to re-buy. Sadly, this is not the first tp-link devices i have had this happen with. Their support is somewhat useless and blame my house for "changing", which is complete rubbish. I know there is nothing wrong with my router/internet/pcs since I bought an adapter from another company and it is easily hitting 800mbps, where running a test on this right after still couldn't get above 300mbps. Only buy this if you are prepared to get a new/replacement within a short period of time.

Windows 11 Users - Read this!
So this works well - great in fact. Just plug and play pretty much, although make sure you download the latest driver. For people like me who have split out their 2.4 and 5ghz bands and use the latest Windows 11 update (24H2) - you may need to amend a setting for this to work on 5ghz. This was working perfect until I updated to 24H2, but then stopped for no reason even though I could connect to 2.4ghz networks without issue. I managed to figure out how to sort it though thankfully- Go to Device Manager Network Adapters right click ‘TP link Wireless USB Adapter’, click properties Click ‘Advanced’, then select ‘5G Wireless Mode’ In the dropdown list, select the one second from the bottom - IEEE 802.11a/n/ac This fixed my issue immediately after spending a considerable amount of time doing every other network troubleshooting steps possible. Hope this helps!

Gets the job done nicely.
Reasonable little adapter. Installs itself, connects to the WiFi reliably and stays connected. Range seems good. Build quality seems pretty good. Games run fine.

Would not connect to 5GHz Ubiquiti WiFi 6
Would only connect at 2.4GHz to Ubiquiti WifFi 6 network. Tried latest drivers, forcing it to connect to 5GHz, disabling 2.4GHz, etc but no, just 144Mbps 802.11n only. Box labels it as the EU/1.0 version. Returned and instead used a NetGear AXE3000 which connected first time at full bandwidth.

Mike has the answer of you have trouble with this adapter
A bit overpriced for what it does. Very poor instructions especially if you have had a previous wifi device with its own drivers. This does not automatically install any drivers. Settings may need to be changed in particular with connecting to 5ghz wifi. Thanks to Mike in the review section here who pointed out that you may need to change a setting in device manager of the PC in the advanced properties for this device. After 2 hours troubleshooting I gave up and started reading the reviews here and found the solution. Thanks Mike .

Great little WiFi dongle.
When I first built my PC around 10 years ago I had a tiny little WiFi dongle. It wasn’t great to begin with. Over those 10 years I’ve upgraded my PC a couple of times and also had newer WiFi routers. Anyway the one I had wasn’t really up to the task anymore and was slowing my connection down because of its age. I saw this one, read some reviews and decided to purchase one. Delivery was really quick. It’s a well designed device, looks awesome, good strong connection and speeds. The setup was really easy too. Highly recommended for those who don’t want to spend a lot but want a decent device.

Grosse différence en qualité de réception par rapport a une clef USB wifi "simple". Je recommande si il vous manque quelques barres de réception

I have a stable and good connection everywhere (I have a 100mbits contract and I get 95-100mbits even tho I’m super far away like 2 walls and 2 doors) tho my ping isn’t really great it’s around 20-30 with a few spikes I don’t really know if it’s because I’m forcing 5ghz on such a distance or because of a different problem. You should also install the newest driver on tp link website instead of the one you get the newest is from 2025 if I remember right and make sure to choose the appropriate settings that boosted my MBits from like 60 to 95 I watched a YouTube video

I’ve been using the TP‑Link Archer TX50UH AX3000 High Gain Wireless USB Adapter, and it’s a great upgrade compared to standard USB Wi-Fi adapters. The Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) support provides very fast and stable connectivity, especially when paired with a modern router. The high-gain external antennas make a noticeable difference in signal strength and help maintain a stable connection even when the router is not very close. Another advantage is the USB base with a cable, which allows you to position the adapter for better reception instead of plugging it directly into the PC. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for improving wireless performance on desktops or older laptops, especially if you want stronger signal and higher speeds.
