I'm not from Ireland...but had always wanted to know what peat smelled like. This was a great way to catch a scent of a distant place. I've burned small chunks of this on an incense tray and let it wonder the house. It does not smell like burning pine or oak. It has its own aroma of oil and leather...at least to me. Just a different way to experience another place without traveling.

I paid $20.00 for what looks like a handful of cat poop. They looked like real peat bricks in the picture but they’re tiny, the sort of thing you’d find in a gift shop for $3.99 or so. Trying to make the best of it I burned one and it smelled like an old, stale cigar (really unpleasant). I’ve smelled peat fires in Ireland and they smelled nothing like this. I got taken.

These are larger than the bricks that came with the original ceramic house, and burner. They won't fit with the with little house. I like the smell a lot, outdoorsy, soft smelling. I'm not really convinced that the few you get for the refill are worth the price.

These were a gift for my wife, she is Irish. She loved them. Should include a piece of paper stating what it is. Something like this: The peat bogs of Ireland yield black blocks of turf, used as heating fuel in many homes. The peat bogs of Ireland are an iconic part of its rural landscape. I cut and pasted that but you could do better I’m sure.

Yes, if you look at all the photos you will discover this is a few tiny pieces of turf.However, I trust Amazon and never thought I needed to "research" buy a few pieces of turf.Header should read "Miniture souvenir turf"The first photo, the only one most people will look at appears to be 5 pieces of normal size turf.Value of this trinket, maybe $3.99.

During a recent visit to Ireland we enjoyed the scent permeating the air. We loved it so much we wanted to share it with friends and family. These little turf blocks were a great way to do it. Everyone enjoyed them.
