Very warm and good quality
This is a snug hat, but not too tight. FYI my head size is 7 (22inches in circumference). The hat is very warm, finally my head is not cold on my commute to work in colder weather. The wool is a bit scratchy so I wear a thinner soft cotton hat underneath.

A large knitted cap, longer than it looks in photos.
This is a serious cap and does indeed have a military look about it. Created out of a very dense knit of boiled wool, making it perfect for very cold weather. The cap is long and may be pulled way down over your forehead and ears and still allows for a edge fold. I’m sure it will be my favorite once cold weather sets in. A real workhorse right out of the past.

One warm hat
I needed a new winter hat and this one caught my eye. Very well made, tight weave to keep heat in and precipitation out. Many colors available. This hat is a winner.

Nice
Old school thick and warm. You can't put it in the wash as I think somebody else did that shows photos of it breaking apart. Also the shape is old school too. It's not a skull cap. Folded up high though you can get that look.

Four stars - but
Four stars but – – – my take on this product. The good: this hat is bomb proof. It is extremely well-made and will no doubt keep you warm in cold weather and it is comfortable to wear without overheating even if the weather is not so cold. It is tightly woven yet very breathable. It is 100% pure wool. I am sure it would keep you warm even when wet. It shipped quickly and was very nicely packaged. It even had a nice note enclosed. The not so good: this hat is one size. It is going to be great for a person with a small to medium size head. Apparently, my head is to big. I normally wear a size 7 ½ to 7 ¾. This hat as shown in the picture is rolled up twice from the bottom. I could barely get it over my head and it came down to the top of my ears. This hat, on me, was way too tight. Because of the construction of this hat it is not going to stretch to fit me over time. When unrolled once the hat comes down over my ears but is still extremely tight. When unrolled fully the hat is almost a full 12 inches long. It will easily cover my head all the way down the back of my neck which means it also covers my face down to my chin. Still tight.I saw one reviewer ask if the hat sticks up and a reply from another reviewer who said what does it matter if he keeps you warm. Well, it matters to me. I don’t like my hat to stickup and flap over like a circus clown. I want my hat to fit right down to the top of my head regardless of whether it is just folded to the top of my ears or unfolded all the way down my neck.Conclusion. For a person with a smallish head you can’t go wrong if you are looking to spend a lot of money on a product that will last a lifetime. For a person with a bigger head you are going to be disappointed with this product because of the fit. Would I buy this hat again - absolutely not. What I recommend this to a friend - if they didn’t wear a larger size hat absolutely.

Perfect cold weather hat!
Wonderful hat for cold weather! It is dense boiled wool, handwoven, and is very well-made. I walk 2.5-3 miles every morning, and sometimes the wind chill brings the “feels like” temperature down near 30. This hat truly makes this North Carolina wimp oblivious to the cold! The seller, Sweater Chalet, was wonderful too. I had emailed him to ask if he could send me the smallest of the hats he had, assuming that there would be some variability withIn this group of handmade products, and he responded affirmatively immediately. The hat I received fits perfectly; it is very tall, but comfortably snug at the base, and as other reviewers have said, the air space above the head seems to provide extra insulation against the cold. A fashion statement it is not, but for staying warm it can’t be beat. And I do love the bright minty green color!

Very Decent Well Cap
Pros: It is VERY warm. It fits my U.S, Size 7-3/4 head just fine. It is not scratchy like you think wool will be. Very high grade and soft wool.Cons: This is not Hunter Blaze Orange. Its a more muted orange. I thought I would use it for hunting but I don't think its bright enough for safety.Im not sure this is a con but the cap body is flat, its two pieces of wall sewed together flat (just the body not the head band part). So when you put it on there is a weird pointy part sticking up. I don't mind it but I think this is normal for Austrian mountain hillbillys....But for the quality and thick wool - its worth the $75.Shipping is fast too and well packaged.

A Performance Cap
Finally, found a cap to keep my head warm during the wee morning hours unloading my retail workplace replenishing truck. This cap for me is not itchy; opposed to others I have had. It is warm and comfortable. The Company sends a sample size wool no-rinse wash with it, which says a lot about their love for their product. I an extreanly happy with my purchase and I am looking at the companies socks as well. Highly recommend.
