The Lesson Book: Level One (The Lesson Books)

The lesson Book is a great addition to our homeschool. It is great for kids who love to draw and perfect for practicing writing and reading.

As a homeschool mom of 20+ years, I rarely find a tool that so drastically changes the way we do school.The Lesson Books were originally created for use with the McGuffey's Readers, and while I found these the perfect compliment to our McGuffey's readers, I was pleasantly surprised to realize how valuable they were in all areas of our homeschool. I found them to be an extremely beneficial tool in a Charlotte Mason homeschool environment.They are flexible and yet provide structure just like the Charlotte Mason approach calls for. I use them with all three of my children ages 5,8, and 12. Since copywork, narration, and dictation are such a foundational part of the Charlotte Mason approach, the way Sherry has put these books together has made incorporating these elements into any subject so simple. They save me time, effort, and are teaching my kids to be independent.I love that she also includes specified areas for narration through drawing. I find this to be such an important skill, especially for younger children. My five-year-old refers to his Lesson Book as his "best favorite school book."We have always done copywork, dictation, and narration (oral, written, and sketches) but The Lesson Books have organized the chaos of keeping up with it all. They guide my children in a way that typical notebooks never did and I find that my children are more focused and stay on course far better with these books.A blank page is intimidating to a child, but the way Sherry has broken the pages up into bite-sized, age-appropriate segments encourages them and makes them feel less overwhelmed. They love looking back through the pages at all of their previous work, too. The Lesson Books also make record keeping a breeze.I cannot say enough about these books and I never would have known what a better overall homeschool experience they offer until I tried them for myself. If you are a Charlotte Mason homeschooler or use any of her approaches, these books are a lifesaver

Watch Mom Delights on YouTube to learn how to use these. She designed them and has so much knowledge after homeschooling 15 kids. This design has really made handwriting copy work and dictation easier for my child that despises writing.

What a wonderful system Sherry has designed and shared with us in this Lesson Book! My daughter is young (5) but can read quite well and loves book work. We started using just the word doodle pages and she absolutely loves it. I’m excited to use these books in the coming years along with the McGuffey readers as our language arts method.

I love this for our daughter. She really enjoys copying doodling etc. The author has a wealth of knowledge and watching her YouTube tutorials on how to use this book with the McGuffey readers made this make sense and is so enjoyable to do. Im so grateful God sent her my way via YouTube.

Love this little book. At first my son was skeptical because he was overwhelmed with freedom of what to write, but once we started reading cool books and he would copy sentences and pictures with crayons for dictation and narration he is loving it. He’s 5 kindergarten this year and this has been a great addition to what we do daily for “school”. I love the creators YouTube channel and thoughts and recommendations on homeschool! She’s very intune with Charlotte Mason and child led learning and I enjoy that.

This book has been a lifesaver. The author designed this to be used with the mcguffey readers, and it does work perfectly for that. It also works great for any book. We have used it for various things. Makes it so easy for me to prepare our copywork for the week. I’ve purchased multiple copies for multiple children and will continue to do so and the other levels as well. Thank you Sherry Hayes for creating this! It's such a nice book. The pages are printed on nice thick paper. It's perfect to use as you need. And you can't go wrong for the price. I love that this level incorporates drawing with writing the words.
