CHEAP AND GOOD!
God give me strength, this roommate is crazy but damn the build up was worth it, there was a real twisted bit in the movie but I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone that hasn’t seen it but definitely buy for the price it’s at!

More thriller than horror
Sara Matthews (Minka Kelly) has just arrived at College to start her freshman year. She heads off to party with Tracy (Aly Michalka) a girl she meets in her dorm and falls for drummer Stephen (Cam Gigandet). Worse the wear for drink she returns to her shared room where she meets her roommate Rebecca (Leighton Meester) but passes out. The following afternoon when Sara eventually wakes, the roommates begin to bond. Rebecca soon begins to show some disturbing signs as she immediately sets about trying to please the rather trusting and somewhat naive Sara. Gradually the intimidation and threats grow and even Sara becomes suspicious of her new found friend. The main problem with this movie is that it becomes its own plot spoiler for it shows too much of what Rebecca is actually doing, rather than letting the audience second guess. From about a quarter in you know she's the baddie, whereas some creative writing could have shifted the focus onto others. Single White Female this isn't but it is a decent enough watch, it's just that its all a bit too obvious. The single disc offers the standard feature of scene selection. Audio is either English or French with subtitles in English, French, Arabic or Danish. Other special features include a director commentary, deleted & alternate scenes whilst the trailers are merely adverts for other movies.if its a popcorn flick you want then this could fit the bill, if you want scares then this may not do it, although there are some disturbing sequences.

An interesting psychological thriller.
I love this movie. It is along the lines of single white female, but better and not quite as graphic. A young woman starts college and befriends her new roommate. It soon become apparent however that the roommate is a little obsessive and unstable. She wants her all to herself and threaten anyone who comes between them. I have watched this more than once. Highly recommend.

Slow and Televisual
It's a bit slow going. I'm not even sure what it's about. It's feel televisual rather than cinematic because of the pacing and the antiseptic look of the production. The costume design is excellent, but the characters are just a bit hollow and inaccessible. They look as though they've just walked off the set of 'Gossip Girl'. It is a masterclass in hair and make-up design, but they lack substance. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into framing, composition and the production values of principal photography, but that doesn't make it any more interesting as a film. The problem may be with the script more than anything else. A psycho room-mate is not an interesting idea in and of itself unless the character is interesting. There is, however, an interesting scene where Rebecca (the room-mate) is masturbating whilst she is on Sarah's mobile speaking to Sarah's ex-boyfriend. It cross-cuts with Sarah making love to her new boyfriend, Steven, whilst Rebecca is masturbating looking at a picture of Sarah as a child. Looking at a childhood picture of Sarah whilst masturbating is a disturbing idea. Speaking on the phone to the ex-boyfriend of a room-mate that you are infatuated with and masturbating whilst listening is slightly twisted. The directorial decision to cross cut between Sarah on the bed whilst Steven is making love to her, and Rebecca on the bed masturbating listening to Rebecca's ex-boyfriend on the phone is confusing. Does she want to be Sarah? Does she want to make love to Steven? Does she want to make love to Sarah's ex-boyfriend? Who is she? What is she about? We don't sympathise with Rebecca. She's not someone we care about. Because of that, we are not on the journey with her and the film is no longer interesting to watch.SPECIAL FEATURES: Director's Commentary and Deleted Scenes

Best friends forever or the kitten gets it...
This feels more like an afternoon TV movie than a DVD. It's like painting by numbers. The increasingly psychotic Rebecca harms and kills various people because they are close to her new room mate, a girl she seizes on as her new best friend. None of the characters are well fleshed out and there are several musical interludes to fill in the time. I watched this whilst recovering from a cold but still had to pause it a few times to do various chores as it failed to fully hold my interest and I was glad when it came to an end at 123 minutes. After a cat fight, it ends on a low key note. In fairness to the director, I suspect that this is aimed at a teenage college market and it's more than thirty years since I went to university.
