EbbeE4400 Drain Riser, Black

Installed in new shower floor drain. Contractor put one in our first shower and we did the second one.

After 28 years we remodeled our master bath shower late last fall. The only local options for the new shower drain used a 3" round chrome drain that looked awfully commercial or a very expensive 6" square cast iron brand. I found this one online that uses a plastic riser (pictured up side down) that threads into a cast iron floor flange. The finished 4" square shower drain is available in a number of finishes at very competitive prices from this manufacturer. My wife is very happy with the drain finish and I'm happy with the money we saved. The cast iron floor flange is non-standard and took a bit of searching but I located it at a nearby plumbing wholesaler at a price that was a bit cheaper than online, after adding shipping. This riser has an interesting option, a hair trap. Using the plastic hair trap virtually guarantees no slow drains in the future. Replacement traps are available in a 10 pack.

A bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but no competition.

This shower drain body is so easy to use. The plug makes it so easy to waterproof, install tile and grout up to it. The hair catcher works so great.

Works great only for square shower drains. I wish they made this for a circular shower drain it would solve all of my problems.
