A definite time saver
I make a lot of Ethernet cables, so I am always on the lookout for tools that will reduce the amount of time I spend on this frankly tedious process. I happened across this tool while looking for something else. It was pretty inexpensive, so I decided to give it a try. My overall impression is positive. Here are the details:Positives----------* The untwist function works well and was easy to learn. As usual, the instructions are not quite clear; you have to pull back the wire at the same rate that the wire is untwisting. I got the hang of it on the first try, unlike a very expensive and over-engineered powered untwisting tool I tried once. Definitely saves time relative to doing it with your fingers or a piece of discarded cable sheath.* The trim function to cut the (now aligned) wires to the same length worked very well. The wires need to be the same length and the cut needs to be very clean to get the wires into the pass-thru connector holes without getting caught up. I have been using a set of precision flush cutters that work just as well, but this reduces the number of tool changes, which in my mind is a real positive when making a lot of cables.Positives, but with Caveats-------------------------------* The straightening "function," if you can call it that, worked well. It was not perfect and some manual straightening was required. Nevertheless, it works better than the straightening tool I was using before, which is simply a set of wire guides on the top of the tool handle. Also much faster than the manual process using your fingers or a section of sheath - and fewer calluses! One thing to watch out for: if you are making a short cable, the straightening action (pulling the wires out of the untwist knob with the handle closed) will pull the wire out of the sheath. It is possible to grab the wire next to the tool untwist knob and hold, which will minimize or hopefully eliminate this side effect. Takes a bit of practice.Negatives------------* The cable stripper that removes the outer sheath worked well. However, after you adjust it for the proper cutting depth for your cable, there is no way to lock the adjustment knob. Given it will cut the wires if it is set too deep, I'd rather not risk it, as the knob will most certainly move as a result of handling and being jostled about in my pocket ot tool bag. I'll continue to use my Klein strippers for this, as they are 100% consistent and reliable.Overall, I'm pleased with the results and this is definitely going in my Ethernet toolkit.

Thumb saver
A coworker of mine lent me his and I immediately ordered one after untwisting a single pair. The one I received is an updated version and adds a way to lock the depth of cut. I do not use it to strip the sheathing off because I’m more used to using my crimper to do it. But I’ve successfully been able to set the depth and get clean cuts. Build quality is nice it is made out of plastic with metal components. Once you get the hang of it you’ll never look back to doing cat6 by hand. Your thumbs will thank you.

It's magic.!
I've been in the telecommunications industry for almost 30 years. Started as an installer but on the Cable TV side. So i can cut a quick and mean coax fitting. But when i must cut a CAT VI, it's a crap shoot. Then I saw this tool and thought.... No way! but yes way. If i only, had it when we started installing the cable modems back around 2000, There would be a lot less people at their computers right now thinking "why is this dang cable so slow?" if you're thinking that and you're in the Seattle area...... You might want to buy one of these and change your fittings out.... Just saying!

Kool Tool
I could tell as soon as I held this network tool that it was a good purchase. It is well constructed, & made with quality materials. The straightening feature works great and better than anticipated, no more finger fatigue. The cutter blade has a slot that the edge goes into to assure a full cut of the wire(s). I recommend this tool for both the production and the one-zy termination technicians. Warning ⚠️ keep a close watch on this tool, it's the type that will end up in someone else's tool bag.

Complicated
The first two steps are ok. It stripped the outer insulation easily. Then I figured out the wire roller and straightener. But the part where you trim the excess wires and get them into the slot for final trimming was too time consuming. I’ll use the connectors where the wire pass through and then are trimmed when crimped.

For the untwister alone
I use this tool solely for untwisting wire, I don't find the rest of it to be useful. Comes in very handy on large jobs when I'm looking at thousands of untwists
