Fix A Sinking Office Chair - No Gas Lift Cylinder or Tools Required - Replacement Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Alternative - Dropper Stopper

I was given a mesh chair from work for my home office, which had only been used for a month (although 3 years ago) as the back rest was too stiff for the user and the seat had started to sink. When I got it home and tried it out at my desk, I realised it had completely sunk and was far too low to use, so I decided to use my existing home office chair. Two weeks later, the seat on this chair started to sink too. After looking for a replacement gas lift piston, I was unsure whether this would be money well spent (would it fit properly? would it work?) so I decided to look for a new office chair and had placed one in my Amazon shopping basket, whilst continuing to shop when I stumbled across the Dropper Stopper. I thought it was worth trying, so I ordered one. It was delivered the next day (which is today). It was easy to install as you just clip it around the gas lift piston as per the instructions (make sure you wipe any oil off the piston before you start) and feels fairly robust. My old chair is now back up to full seat height, but this is now in a fixed position (as the height can't be adjusted with the Drop Stopper fitted). However, I was so impressed that I immediately ordered another one for the other chair! Many thanks - you have saved me the expense of buying a new chair, plus I will now have a choice of 2 chairs!! Have a very expensive ergonomic chair which I bought second hand (still costly even then but the retail price would make any of us actually weep) and after 6 Years of daily use it’s had a little drop vs a complete fail -!clearly the start of end of life for the lift. Delighted to find this little fix and it works brilliantly. Had found a DIY guide using plumbing parts but this is low cost and keeps my lovely chair at just the right height.10 years plus of use here we come!Highly recommended. I think probably most effective when you first notice that sinking feeling vs a complete collapse but excellent at the job. Great to repair an investment like a really good chair - better for the environment as well as better for the wallet.

These lasted about 24 hours before popping open and falling out and my chair sinking once more. I'm now waiting on a dozen jubilee clips to keep them from opening up but to be honest you can stop your chair sinking by using jubilee clips alone. Just tighten one above the other on the length of shaft and there's no way a chair will sink again, leaving the plastic clips a pointless waste of money. Plastic clips cost £12.95 and the jubilee clips cost £7.99 so judge for yourself.

This device certainly does what it says "on the tin". It restored my swivel chair to a renewed state of usefulness. It takes less that 5 minutes to install and the result is instantaneous. The downside is when you sit on the seat it goes down with a bump and does not have the "cushioney" effect you get with a gas fitting. However I am very pleased with the product. Delivery was fine and can recommend it to anyone subject to the caveat about the solid feeling when you sit down.

Initially these were great and did the job well but after a few months they would start popping off randomly making you jump in the process so it could do with a more secure design. Therefore these are really just a temporary fix until you get a new chair.

I have a great office chair but it is now 6+ years old and recently I noticed that it was gradually going down while sitting on it, meaning I had to constantly readjust it upwards. So, I thought I would have to either spend £100+ for a new chair, or faff around trying to find the correct replacement gas cylinder. Knowing me, I'd probably choose the wrong one and have to re-order, etc.Thankfully, while searching I found this item by accident and thought that for less than £10 I should give it a go. Arrived within 2 days and I can honestly say it is a godsend. Easy to clamp on to the gas cylinder/chair adjuster, and so far seems to be perfect for the job. I saw some reviews that said it is flimsy, but it seems a solid piece of kit to me. Once fitted to the chair, the chair no longer goes up or down, of course, but as the highest position worked for me, I am very happy to have this on the chair and save me time and money investing in a new chair!To be honest, even if it failed in a year's time (which I don't expect it to), I'd rather spend another £8.95 on one of these, than buy a new chair anyway!Very few "wonder" items like this, actually do what they say they will, but I am very confident this will keep going for a while, so thanks!

The device does what I expected - basically it clamps on (in 3 separate 4 cm sections) around the gas strut to prevent it sinking. I have an office chair and (as most likely happens with others after some years of use) the gas strut leaks. I could not work out how to even dismantle the chair to get to the failing part.The device solves my problem but of course it loses the ability to adjust the height frequently (you can choose the height that it supports but it does not restore the function of the lever that allows you to raise or lower the seat).It is expensive for 3 pieces of extruded plastic but, on the other side of the coin, it saves replacing a chair.

Conceptually, this is great. I just needed to clip two of the clips onto my chair to hold it at the right height. However, after three days, one of the clips has snapped. It is now still in place, but held together with cellotape - not quite the plan. This would be better made of a stronger plastic or metal.Basically, I need a new chair and should have probably chosen that route in the first place!

Mi é piaciuta la facilità di montaggio, non servono istruzioni, é intuitivo. Sulla robustezza, ora come ora, posso dire solo che sembrano robusti questi anelli ma non ho e non posso fare una recensione corretta avendoli montati da pochi giorni. Posso dire che gli anelli sono tre; ne ho montati due perché il terzo non ci entrava. Non so se il terzo lo devo tagliare a misura o tenerlo come "ricambio".

Tenia una silla q se bajaba poco a poco. Ahora ya no se baja y por buen precio la silla vuelve a estar operativa

Es muy buena idea para arreglar una silla con el amortiguador estropeado.Tuve un problema con una de las piezas que se rompio al poco tiempo. Contacte con el vendedor y a los dos dias tenia otra en casa de reemplazo.

Va muy bien para que la silla no se baje al tener el amortiguador roto.
