Great book for mid-beginning students
This book is a tremendous support for my Spanish learning needs. I have several books and workbooks and play with them at various times. This CliffNotes Spanish I book is really great for simplifying and explaining grammar concepts in both English and Spanish. If you, like me, didn't know what a direct object or indirect object pronoun were, then this book will help you catch on to some core concepts for sentence structure and use of the Spanish language. I even bought a copy for our study partners as I was finding it so helpful. It is jam-packed with info, so I have sticky notes jutting out all over the pages. Have to go back and memorize or re-study parts to integrate the concept or the specific "rules" of word use, conjugation, etc. This book gives you the scoop on each of the early important concepts with great examples. Also has an internet link for more practice activities though I haven't tried them yet. Definitely a worthwhile buy.

Exceptional Value
The teaching excellence of the writers (both of whom have won teaching awards) shines through in this book, which concisely explains introductory rules of Spanish grammar and vocabulary in a very readable way. I'm using this alongside Duolingo to demystify word usage and it's proven to be quite helpful. Mnemonics and acronyms are scattered throughout to help you learn e.g. the notoriously confusing (for beginners) different uses of estar and ser, as well as para and por, with examples to illustrate. For those who want to learn Spanish on a budget, this is a great book and excellent reference.

A Great Beginning or Review
I studied Spanish several times in school years ago. This is the best condensed book I've seen for a review and I would think even for a beginner. I did encounter several typos, but for the price I'd say this is a good choice.

Very pleased with this book
We are using Rosetta Stone Spanish for Homeschool Spanish I for my son's 9th grade year. The Rosetta Stone has been very frustrating because they don't give good explanations (it's the immersion theory---very difficult). The Cliff Notes Spanish has helped explain a lot of the basic things so my son can keep moving forward with the Rosetta Stone. It fills in the gaps well.

This is dry but . . .
. . . to the point. I use it along with my Living Language Spanish course. It is helpful whenever I am wondering what the rule is for something. I even read it for pleasure as I go along, but then, I'm a geek about this.

Good basics
A really good book for basics. I use this with my online course and it explains all the grammar well. A good addition to any course. If you find the grammar hard work then this may help. It even explains english grammar! For the price one of the best Spanish language books I have bought.
