Shelver Coated Lead Penny Weights, Curtain Weights (20 x 13g / 25mm)

Arrived really quickly, and as described, just what I needed.

The weights collectively are quite heavy as expected.They are rounded but not perfectly so.They can be laid loose or sewn in and hold the material nice and taught.Coated in white paint with two button holes for sewing.

These penny weights do exactly as you would expect a penny weight to do - they’re heavy enough to add a little bit of “fall” to the hem of a curtain, but not too heavy that they would drag the hem down on lighted fabrics.However, unlike most other penny weights I’ve used, they are coated in a white glossy substance (husband tells me it’s powder coating) which makes them a little more discreet when sewing into lighter coloured fabrics.Like other penny weights, they have two holes in the centre to enable you to sew them in place and measure just under 1” (2.5cm) in diameter.Not a lot you can say about a penny weight, but I will definitely use these on future curtain-making projects.

If you make your own curtains, the addition of weights in the hem helps ensure the fabric drapes evenly, and adds a pro touch to your projects.These weights are excellent quality. At an inch wide, they should fit perfectly into any curtain hem, and with their button-like design, they can easily be stitched into position – one in each of the corners is all you need. Of course, you can insert additional weights if you need to.The weights are painted white – there were a couple of flakes in the pack I received, but the weights were not damaged in any way.I would certainly recommend these to anybody who makes or repairs curtains.

I have reviewed a few of the Shelver product curtain weights and I am happy with them all - this is no exception. These are 13g disc weights to be sewn into curtain hems to give them a little extra weight to help them hang properly.The lead "button" weights are coated in a white paint to keep the lead material off your hands and out the fabric, which it a welcome touch - some I have bought on the high street are not coated.They each measure 25mm diameter and are about 2mm thick. They feature a pair of "button holes" to allow you to sew them in place on the hem.Happy with them, and they are good value for money in my opinion.
