Superstar: Back Lawn 20KG

Bought at £13.50, this product seemed a little pricey for plain seed - but it gave me a whole new lawn..Shipping note: The item arrived quickly and well-packaged.Unlike many of the reviewers here, I am not a professional gardener - and until recently had never even had a lawn - so my experience is very limited.That said, the growth of the lawn was very uneven, and once I had cleared moss there were large grass-less patches. Much of the lawn is in near-permanent shade, while another part is almost always wet. Having read up on the various options, I was not optimistic, but tried one of the more expensive combo-seeds, which also included coir, and followed the instructions carefully. I sowed only the larger patches (20-30 cm), and the results were very, very poor. What little grass appeared was in separate clumps, and, having long (10-15 cm), relatively broad (6-8 mm) and 'juicy' blades, it looked entirely unsuited to be mowed for a lawn.Willing to try another approach, I ordered some of this Grass People seed, and again carefully following instructions, seeding the whole area, with a slightly heavier seeding on the patches. A week later, an even carpet of little blades of grass appeared. Two weeks later, and, by comparison, the lawn now looks like green velvet.. It mows beautifully, leaving clear two-tone stripes.Best of all, the cover was even across the dry, the shaded, and even the wet areas.Certainly, this seed-only solution was a little more work, but I am sure that the raking and treading really made a worthwhile difference. I loved this so much I bought a second bag! The grass grows quickly and thickly and it is a lush vibrant green colour. I used this to fill in the gaps in our patchy lawn and this has done the trick though the fresh new grass puts my old lawn to shame! Not all the seeds have sprouted but overall it is still good value for money and the fresh grass is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had taken the before&after pictures. even my neighbours have commented on my restored lawn - very happy!

Growth was a little bit patchy but it did come through eventually and did look good. Weather conditions weren't perfect after that and it died back a bit but the lawn still looks good. Make sure you stay on top of drainage and ensure that it's well watered - good seed.

I have tried all the grass seeds you can think of with all the (very earnest!) promises they all came with. Most are frankly crap - but this is absolutely brilliant!! It does all that it promises that it will, grows quickly (and thickly!) and looks totally superb. I will never buy anyone else’s grass seed - ever!! You can buy this grass seed with TOTAL CONFIDENCE and know that it will definitely work. It come superbly packaged in a smart recyclable/reusable bag with a detailed instruction sheet. I was hugely impressed!! Fantastic product. Fantastic service. Can’t recommend The Grass People highly enough. Awesome!!

I took my old clay soil away and bought new quality top soil for my lawn. In September I started seeding from scratch how it's written in the book. I made sur the first 3 weeks they got enough water. The grass has got a nice colour where it grows but lots of area had bare spots, so I had to overseed it in a month time. Luckily the weather was good in September and the beginning of the October. Unfortunately the lawn still has got bare spots. Some of the seeds were really good but most of them were bad.Really annoying. I spent two month to create a nice lawn, but it never happened.

Fantastic lawn seed. Used this on a small area in my garden which previously was full of wildflowers and shrubbery that the previous homeowner had planted.After removing the plants, I churned the soil up with a pitchfork, raked, sowed about 2 thirds of the 2kg bag over the area, raked over again and then watered. Ensuring the seeds have plenty of water in the initial stages is critical so the sprinkler was used on days where it didn't rain. Saw no results for the first couple of weeks, after which the first signs of life appeared and it wasn't long before I was seeing visible signs of progress daily. After about 4 weeks I threw the rest of the seeds down (as I wasn't going to use them for anything else) on some patches that hadn't taken as well and sprinkled over with soil, again ensuring to water at regular intervals. This worked well and meant I had a uniform cover once these areas sprouted. By the end of May, the grass was so tall (up to 5 inches in some areas) that it required mowing.Very pleased with the quality of the grass - many options for lawn seed available on this site and others. This stuff was more expensive than other options but I purchased in the hope that it would guarantee results and I wasn't disappointed. Some photos for before and after are attached for context.

Be patient. Took me three attempts to see any growth planting at different times of the year.The only time it worked was when I poured hundreds of seeds on top of loose-ish soil in mid-April.By May they were sprouting, but they take a while.

Brilliant quality grass seeds. Germinated within 5 days after watering once on a daily basis. The attached picture shows the progress every 5 days over a period of 20 days. So far no site of any weeds as well, which was my major concern with some of the other grass seed brands I have used in the past.For the better germination I suggest using some top soil as in my case the seeds didn’t germinated on the other areas where I haven’t used the top soil.
