I can hardly express how much this series of books has meant to me since I first read them growing up in the 1960’s. I’ve asked many if my friends of the same age if they are familiar with the series and I’m surprised to find that most are not, but the 60’s being as they were, these books were hardly hip and “relevant” then . That did not matter to me and I have read each and every one many times since then. I hope that they appeal to young readers now . I would love to see a resurgence in interest in them . I will always love the books and their characters . I have even nicknamed my little black lab mix “Beany”, in honor of Beany Malone .

Happy to Meet the Malones
Great book, written at a time when life was simpler and values were respectable! I grew up reading these books, but had never read this initial one.

Five Stars
Wonderful story about a family and all the challenges of growing to adulthood. Good historical perspective on WW II.

old fashioned good read
This book was a blast from the past. Because I loved it then, I love it now. It is dated, there is no cussing, violence or sex in it which causes it to be very refreshing. Has a moral tone that some will not like, however I also thought that was refreshing.

Formatting FIXED!!!
I'm happy to be able to revise my review based on content. I love this series. Meet The Malones is a great family story about a wonderfully individual family. And now the formatting for the Kindle is fixed, it's beautifully readable, and the illustrations are charming too!

Lovely story about a family in the 1940's
If you like good, heart-warming stories about families then I recommend this book. This was written in the 1940's and is about an American family consisting of 3 teenagers and a young married sister who returns home. The mother is dead and the father has to go away. The story looks at the how the children manage with their responsibilities, relationships (those within the family, with neighbours, friends and romantic attachments) and the dilemmas they face. It's good news that this is available on Kindle for a few pounds! After reading this I also bought "Beany Malone" which is the second book in the series. I enjoyed this too; not quite as much as the first book, but it was nice to avoid paying expensive, international postage and well worth the few pounds it costs via Kindle.
