Fast paced romp to murder
I love the characters & the rapport between them. I love the local flavor of small town Maine but would love more description of the area. The plot was complex but very believable & developed quickly. Good read on a snowy weekend! Looking forward to next book in this series.

Mac is in trouble, but the angels are on the job.
In this book, we learn of Mac's life and history. Mac is arrested for a murder of a woman that turns out to be his wife's best friend. Yes, Mac has a wife. Turns out that she is in a coma due to a faulty leaking furnace. Her family blamed Mac and went to court to gain custody for her medical care. Her parents are wealthly and Mac knew they could better provide for her care. He was blamed for the furnace, but the police saw it as an accident. Time went by. Then a woman shows up at the store and now says she believes Mac is innocent. Mac is out sailing and does not talk to the woman. Later that day, when he comes home, Sarah relays the message. Mac trys to call her and it goes to voicemail. He trys to track her down. While Mac is checking out lodging and restaurants, the woman is being murdered on the waterfront. There is a witness that saw the woman talking to Mac (?). The witness heard her call him Mac. The angels are on the case. Will they be able to prove that Mac is innocent. What made the woman change her mind after many years? Another old friend of Mac's comes to town.Mac is leery of him because he backed his wife's parents. Along the way, you will meet many of Mac's family. At the end, Mac states that he is resigning. Sarah will not accept it. She says that he can come back when he is ready. Now she understand the space between them.Reading another book in this series is like going home. All the characters are like family. At the end of this one, Sarah's grandmother is back in town.

Second Chance mystery deserves first place
In the 5th book in Sofie Ryan's Second Chance Cat Mystery series, Sarah is still working in her shop, Second Chance, and the Angels are still investigating and Elvis, Sarah's cat, oversees all of them. I particularly like that the author includes Elvis in just about every scene and what's going on. For readers who love cats and mysteries, you get your money's worth out of this one.Mac is working at Second Chance, helping to refurbish pieces of furniture and taking care of the heavy work. Even though he's worked there for a while, Sarah knows little about his life before his arrival in North Harbor, Maine. That is, until a woman coming to town to see Mac has some shocking news and meets a deadly end. This is a particularly good book in this series even though I haven't read all of them. The characters are highly interesting, and the team of Angels who investigate are not only funny but smart as a whip at what they do. Mr. P is my favorite with his computer skills and his pants hiked up under his armpits. I was surprised at the details of the ending, and it included some exciting scenes and revelations. I'm looking forward to my next visit with Second Chance.

Elvis is back in action.
The Fast and the Furriest is the newest offering of the Second Chance Cat Mystery series by Sofie Ryan. Sarah and Elvis and the Angles come together to make their own investigation into the death of a young woman, Erin, comes to Sarah's repurpose shop Second Chance looking for Mac McKenzie. Mac works with Sarah at the shop but is out on the water for the day as part of a sailing crew. Erin leaves a message for Mac and will stay in town until she can speak with Mac. Later that evening Erin is found murdered and Mac is the prime suspect. The Angels; Mr P has a private investigator license and is the world's oldest computer hacker, and Liz, Rose, and Charlotte are his Angels and partners in 'crime' as they investigate and get in the way of the authorities as they find clues and the culprit. Nick is Charlotte's son and the local medical examiner; he and Sarah have been friends for years.Until now Mac has kept his past a mystery, speaking very little about his background and even less about his family. Secrets are coming to light and Sarah, Elvis, and the Angles are in the middle of the action.

Excellent Cozy!
Enjoyed this entry into the Second Chance series. It's one of the most puzzling mysteries. Keeps you guessing. The story revolves around Mac's unknown past. Find out quickly that he has a wife! Big shock to Sarah, his friend and partner in the Second Chance shop. To most of the other wonderful characters, too. I still think Mac is better match for intrepid Sarah than the wishy-washy teen like stuff that goes on with Nick. Hope Ms. Ryan finds as good a solution to that quandary as she does with the whodunnit in this book. Highly recommended!

Good addition to the series
The latest installment of Sarah and the gang is a good read. I don't think it was the best in the series, but its still a very good book. The character interaction - Elvis included - is hysterical at times. We get to know them all better, they evolve nicely in the series. This book focuses on Mac, whom I believe all the readers have wondered about. One thing I liked is that Gram is back. We have read so much about her and John without actually meeting them yet. And maybe (maybe??) there is a lead in to the next book???? There is definitely a parallel story line if its not the primary subject.Overall, a good addition to the series. I am a huge fan of Sofie Ryan's books (this an the magical cat series). And, like the other readers, cannot wait for the next installment

Elvis is in the building
Princess Fuzzypants here:I love cool cats. I mean kitties who are both debonair, charming and handsome. If you have read my reviews and interviews you will know I have quite a few of my favourites. If I had opposable thumbs I might even pin them up on my wall.Enter Elvis! I have read and reviewed his books before but he just keeps getting better and better. Sarah Grayson runs the Second Chance shop where she sells both antiques and consignments and repurposed objects. Of course, she would not be as successful as she is if not for her assistant Elvis. He is an eloquent cat without saying a word.He keeps Sarah and her staff and the group of seniors who hang out with her and call themselves Charlotte’s Angels. They solve crimes and they are very good. Needless to say neither the local constabulary nor the senior’s family members are happy about their investigations. When one of their friends, and colleagues at Second Chance, is accused of murdering a woman who has come to town to visit him, there is nothing that will stop them.It seems Mac has an entirely different life that he shared with no one that includes a wife in a coma and suspicions from her family that he had something to do with it.The Fast and The Furriest is a good mystery that is well paced, full of all sorts of surprises and twists with enough humour to keep it charming while maintaining the suspense.I will look forward to more adventures as each one gets better and better.I give it five purrs and two paws up.
