Not Terrible, But Needs Improvement
I can be brutal if an e-book is bad; I'll just disclose that right up front. This is not terrible, but not stellar either.First off, the author swears in the book. This is a DIY book; there is just no reason to throw OMG into the mix. Seriously- that is so unprofessional. There are also typos and other minor errors that might only bug an editor like myself. As far as the content, the instructions are written moderately well. There are some missing details and some of the soapmaking process isn't covered as clearly as I would prefer. However, the process is correct, there are no glaring errors there, and safety considerations are explained correctly. There is a small collection of recipes that are, amazingly, mostly correct. (Almost all small, self-published soap books have recipes that are not tested, have incorrect proportions and are dangerous, so this fact earned this book the 4th star, despite its other weaknesses.) The recipes are super-fatted quite high, however, so you'll probably want to double check and adjust to your preferences in a reliable lye calculator. Also, the last two recipes in the book include no ingredient amounts at all, making them unusable. Sloppy and unfortunate.I would really like to give this book 2.5 stars, but that's not an option, so I erred on the side of generosity. It's not bad, there is usable information, and the recipes aren't dangerous. However, slogging through errors, typos, swearing and general sloppiness really kills the flow when you're trying to learn something new. If it's free, it's worth picking up. If you are going to pay anyway, go with Smart Soapmaking. It's accurate, well written and only .99.

This is most likely the worst purchase I have made on Amazon
This is most likely the worst purchase I have made on Amazon. This so called book, that says it has 30 pages, has 12 pages dealing with soap making and 2 pages of fluff for a total of a 14 page pamphlet. The miss spelled words are too numerous to put down here and the information is erroneous at best. The last two recipes of the five total, don't even list the amount of the ingredients to use. What a waste of money. Amazon should be embarrassed to be taken like this, I know I am.

not for beginners and don't get the ebook
Well it certainly is a quick start guide! It glosses over so many areas that's it more of a quick refresher course for experienced soapers. There's nowhere near enough detail or in some cases even wrong information. For example, insulating your cold process soap to cure will NOT cause it to crack! Two of the five recipes don't include ingredient quantities. The table of colourants is completely missing. Although there is a very brief mention of swirling Colours, there are no photographs - or were these left out of ebook version too.Personally I'd send this book to an editor for a very thorough overall!

informative but missing parts of recipe
This book excited me to start soap making and was very informative. The instructions were thorough, well written, and easy to understand. But when I got to the recipes 1/2 of them were missing the measurements rendering them useless and disappointing.

Good basic book
This is good basic book on soap making. It will definitely get you interested in making your own soap, for fun and or for healthy living reasons. However, I would have liked to have seen some photos, and more importantly, some resources for some of the ingredients and essential oils. I guess, tho, that as easy as it is to find things online these days, this really is not necessary. There are good safety precautions and info on the various types of basic oils to use and several interesting recipes to try out.

good starter information
The information presented was accurate. I didn't test any of the recipes. It was a fun read and short/fast. .
