I debated for ages before buying this as it is expensive compared to other dishes I have bought. However, I have bought so many roasting dishes over the years where the non-stick coating inevitably comes off leaving them useless, so have wasted so much money. I have only used this a couple of times, but I seasoned it as recommended on the Mermaid website and my roast potatoes did not stick at all and the dish washed easily. Also, I have quite a small oven through lack of space in my kitchen and this was a perfect fit, whilst being big enough to do a roast. I will give it a few months and if as I suspect it still comes up trumps I will definitely be buying further items in this range. Also delivery was fast.

I have been waiting to get one of these for ages to replace an inferior rival that warped as soon as I put it in a hot oven. No such problems with this so far. Obviously, it's not non-stick, but a little soak after cooling in warm soapy water works a treat. Roasts vegetables nicely because there is no pooling of oil or juices, owing to a superbly well-engineered flat base. Transfers heat very well giving a very even roast. British product and we ought to be proud! Five years after purchase the tray has twisted. Not so flat or well-engineered now! If we cannot trust this brand, which can we trust?

Like their other items, I chose this dish as I had read lots of favourable comments on Mermaid kitchenware. I've never used, or if I'm honest, even heard of them before. So I was hoping the reviews were accurate... ...they are in so much as they're a high quality product, compared to cheap stuff you can buy from discount high-street stores; however, they don't feel as good as their price suggests. They feel a little 'thin' and 'lightweight'. Not quite worth the money.

I've been using these pans for the last few years now and they are brilliant. The Hard Anodised material is very strong, non-stick and browns roast potatoes much quicker than other metal pans. I also use the Mermaid baking tray which is great for cooking pastry bases (such as quiche or sausage rolls) no soggy bottoms! I notice that there are a number of poor reviews of this product, but I see that they are reviews from 10+ years ago, so assume that the product has vastly improved to the brilliant product it is today. Hence my buying additional tins now.

This is a good solid roasting pan, I like Samuel Groves products, they are very well made. The hard anodised aluminium is easy to clean, for many years now I have used a stainless steel roaster, very good, but always gets cooked on residue which is difficult to clean, this is much better. A disadvantage I am prepared to live with, is that you cannot use it on an induction job.

I was disappointed with this item as I wanted to replace the same model I had happily for many years (which was non-stick for most of its life) the old/original version was a better model, more durable and heavier in weight than this model. I thought that may have been an upgrade in design yet on one use I quickly found the vegetables stuck to the base and not what I expected from a new anodised roasting dish. Shame as the item was once exceptional.
